It was around 9 pm and we were at the Russian River all day looking for bears. Based on a recommendation, we came here hoping for a room for the night. They had 2 left - and it was very clean, reasonably priced, and what a fantastic place! George, one of the owners, was very friendly. After we checked into our room, he said other tenants were in the back of the B&B hanging out by a campfire. We went back there and found many people sitting around a firepit making smores - huge marshmellows. George shared his experiences while in Alaska - what a treat. There were people here from all over the world - mostly fishing and enjoying the outdoors. We shared stories of our day and really enjoyed ourselves. It was the perfect ending to our wonderful trip. If I had a B&B, this is the type of place I would have myself - welcoming, clean, beautiful property.

The beds were clean and comfortable. The shower/bathroom was clean and the showers were hot. They had a free breakfast with lots of choices. I sat on the patio with many others enjoying multiple cups of coffee and baked goods. They had flowers planted in pots, and some fun picture taking opportunities around the property. It was a truly beautiful place.

Across the street was the Kenai River (walking distance). If you go to Coopers Landing, don't go anywhere else - go here, and also eat at Gwin's down the street. If you drive to go back to Seward or Anchorage, there is a sign for Princess Lodge on the left after you pass the post office. The Lodge is up on a hill. There is an amazing view from that deck - make sure you stop by there to take pictures of the Kenai River.

Room Tip: Try and get a room that is not in the front office - evern if guests were very quiet and respectful...

This is a wonderful place to just unwind and relax. George and Shirley are so friendly, making guests feel at home. They provide a very comfortable room with good amenities including wifi and private bath. Breakfast was continental style and very casual. Guests come and go and fix their own breakfast at their leisure. The front porch is a wonderful place to just relax and talk with other guests as well as at the camp fire George prepares each evening. George and Shirley introduce wonderful Southern hospitality into this fabulous area in Alaska. The Hutch is conveniently located to take advantage of the great fishing opportunities on the Kenai. Should we decide to come back to this area, we will be calling The Hutch for accomodations. I certainly recommend this very relaxing place. The price was exceptionally economical for the service and amenities received....a great value indeed!

Room Tip: Choose a room that is not on the first floor. We recommend a room that is on the opposite side of t...

I've stayed at the Hutch the last 2 summers. George and Shirley are beyond great! The first summer I went up w/ the guys, for a week's float trip on the Kenai. The second summer I broke the wife up to see the area, only 1 days fishing, the rest spent grabbing photos of grizzlies. The facility was even clean enough for my finicky wife! Comfortable beds, decent continental breakfast, good parking and great WiFi. It's just across the street from the mighty Kenai. For you fisherman, there's also a great fly fishing shop directly across the street. Beautiful pine trees, foresty smells, no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommend.

The Hutch is not a bed and breakfast in the traditional sense. It is more of a hotel with a continental breakfast buffet that's a notch or two better than you might find at the Econo Lodge.

We found the accommodations clean and comfortable, with private bath. We did not get the whole run of the building -- and it is a big building, three stories with exterior staircases -- but our room was one of three that you accessed through a little living room area that had a TV and videotapes, a few couches, and a small fridge.

Wi-fi worked without a hitch. We paid $95, which is not bad considering the prices in this area. I would go back.

I'm a finicky person when it comes to clean & this place is immaculate! They always met our needs & accommodated our every wish. There's grills, a fire every night (weather permitting), televisions & a movie selection for the rainy days, a broad selection of teas & breakfast foods. The price is unbeatable as well !! Thank you thank you!!

for our fall fishing trip to cooper landing i thought it would be more private and quiet if we could find a cabin instead of a motel room, plus we could talk loud without disturbing others. did some homework and called the hutch b&b and rented their cabin for a week. shirley recomended the fishing outfitter that we used which turned out to a great choice. the cabin had a walk around deck so after we got back from fishing each day we could sit in different locations and enjoy the sites. george and shirley are very friendly and we and other guest would sit by a fire and tell stories about our adventures for the day. the cabin is new and very comfortable and was plenty of room for my son, nephew and myself. if you like it quiet and peaceful this is the place to be. signed bearbait8532
