We are the closest lodging near the confluence of two world-class salmon streams - the Kenai River and the Russian River. The food is great for a wilderness lodge, great ambiance and service. Lots of things to do, Russian River fishing, kenai river fishing, quartz creek too.

Cute rustic roadhouse setting. Gwen's has a great breakfast menu. Our food was served hot and was delicious.

I would have given Gwen's a 5 rating, but our waitress was either having a bad day or wasn't awake yet. She gave my breakfast to someone else which ended up with me having bacon instead of sausage and she overcharged our bill. When the mistakes were brought to her attention, she very quickly apologized and corrected the issue.

With two others I went to Gwins Restaurant in Coopers Landing, AK. On Sunday August 14th at 1:00p. After a few days of fishing in Homer we rolled through Coopers Landing hungry and tired. We went in appearance was nice. We sat down with only 4 other customers ordering food. We sat there for 10 minutes without getting greeted by a staff member. We had to flag down the waitress for menus.Food looked pricey on the menu. Through the next 15 minutes of waiting for the waitress to come back, two other couples came in and sat down for several minutes without being greeted by a waitress as well. They decided to be a little less patient and they got up and walked out. Us as well didn't want to wait any longer. We got up and left and ate at Sunrise Inn. Sunrise Inn had great service and food. Gwins-Terrible Service, less than impressed, we had to walk

You were there 25 minutes without putting an order in per your statement. People were ordering and finished with their tickets in 26 to 34 minutes during that period. The server on duty, Amelia, at that specific time gets high praises regularly including today. There was also a second server Sheridan. Amelia took an order for our huge delicious Angus 1/2 lb. burger at the time you state, and they were done eating and had closed their ticket just 34 minutes later. I am sorry if this happened but I see you have zero other reviews and endorse a competitor by name. We strive to greet people promptly even if we can't get to them right away which WILL happen when we are swamped. When I investigated this complaint, one of our servers said she has waited 15 minutes AT the competition before someone greeted her and brought her a menu. This is a remote area with variable business levels and limited staff. Please understand we are doing our best and it can be quite stressful at times.
1608140073 Dining Room:B1:2 Amelia W BAR CHOW BURG 12:58pm 1:32pm $41.40
4 minutes later 1:02PM she takes an order for 2 coffees and our famous carrot cake. They closed out 12 minutes later. Then she has no orders till 1:30PM. So she is available.
1608140074 Dining Room:D8:2 Amelia W 1:02pm 1:14pm $13.24
Sheridan had no orders processed since 12:48. She does 2 bowls of our famous smoked salmon chowder at 1:05. She was available in the time frame you mention.
1608140075 Dining Room:D3:2 Sheridan 1:05pm 1:51pm $18.44
Next Sheridan gets a TO GO Fisherman's Lunch put together.
1608140076 ToGo:ToGo:1 Sheridan F GO 1:10pm 1:51pm $12.30
Amelia doesn't have another order till 1:31 so she has all kinds of time, she is very friendly, she works for tips, and she was not very busy. Sheridan's next order was 41 minutes later 1:51 and they were done eating just 26 minutes later.
1608140084 Dining Room:B4:2 Sheridan F FEZ 1:51pm 2:17pm $38.27
Please let us know if you are in a hurry up front so you will not be frustrated waiting. Thank you, Keith

Gwin's has been a fixture in Cooper Landing for a long long time. If you are a fisherman and just need a place to get some rest before heading out again it's fine. You can get a good, simple meal in the "restaurant". This year, it seems the cooks are taking a longer time than usual to get the food out. The server's are always friendly and work their tails off. Maybe a little more than I would like to pay for a hamburger, give there are now other options close by.

"Showing it's [sic] age" We have spent about $500K fixing it up and have not made a dime in profit restoring the place. People come up to thank me for saving it. We deliberately leave the floor and bar crooked to keep it authentic. We have lowered our turn times. We are not fast food. Angus beef costs $5/lb our 1/2 lb. burger with homemade fries is $12.95. That is like two quarter pounders. Our competition charges more for pulled pork which costs half as much per pound.

As recommended we visited Gwin's restaurant and ordered their Hamburger. It was good but more important the servers were so friendly and quick. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We were lucky enough to be staying at the lodge on a Friday when live entertainment played. The "chalet" we stayed in was comfortable but we missed the unavailable wifi. Very comfortable room and thanks again to all who work at Gwin's.
