Great food, good service and an especially great view. Not what you would expect to find in such a remote outpost.

To be honest, this place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. I am sure plenty of tourists just drive by this place without thought, but a local mentioned we should check it out for dinner since we were out late hiking and were now hungry (9:45 pm).

I am so glad we did! The views from out on the balcony were breathtaking and the food was delicious (although priced a little high for the small portions, even for Alaska). Everything was spiced well and the cherry on the top was the GF chocolate peanut butter torte. The waitress said the owner's wife makes it and it was to-die-for. It was so well crafted, I couldn't tell it was GF. While it was incredibly delicious, the size was pretty small for the price tag, again, even for Alaska. However, everything comes with a price and to get fine food WITH a fine view - let's just say it is worth the money spent. Just view the restaurant as a well-deserved splurge.

It would be nice if the entrees came with another 1/2 to full cup of rice. After burning several calories on our hiking trip, we still had room to snack on our trip back to the cabin.

Lastly, we were dressed in our hiking attire - no judgment there. And they are open, at least in the summer months, until 10:30 pm so if you are like us and miss dinner because you are enjoying the daylight, then this is a safe bet for some food in an otherwise sparse part of the Kenai peninsula.

The Kingfisher's burgers are to die for. I'm addicted to the Bleu Burger! The view and weekly live music also add to the many reasons why I love the Kingfisher!
