“Excellent family-owned cafe near Denali.”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Lots of locals filled this place when we were here for breakfast, and no wonder. Reasonably priced food and tasty. The coffee was fabulous.

“Okay food in a convenient place off the road”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Very convenient spot on the road from Anchorage to Homer.

The food is just okay.

We tried the crab cakes and the buffalo chili. Both were very average.

The crab cakes combine real crab meat with surimi (fake crab meat). The crab meat platter has five crab cakes that are each about the diameter of a silver dollar with the thickness of a slim book.

The buffalo chili was more like stew. It had bits of buffalo and then mixed with beans, onions, and some peppers.

“Skip the Sunrise”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Not a good spot! Burgers were cold, the special was terrible and the single waitress was very stressed out. We would not go back.

“Great food in a great little place”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We stopped at the Sunrise cafe on the way back from Seward to Anchorage. It was a nice little restaurant that appeared to be a stop for the locals and travelers alike. The young man working was very friendly and helpful. The food was great (I went with the lasagna on special). There were a lot of good looking desserts that tempted us, but our willpower prevailed. The prices were reasonable. This would be a great stop on the road between Homer and Anchorage. It was a short enough distance down the Sterling Highway turnoff that it made a nice little stop on the Anchorage-Seward route. If we ever go back to Alaska, we would love to stop at this great little place again.

“I'm not a tourist, I live here”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Driving down from Anchorage is a pain in the winter months. Even with the heater on the ""grow orchids in the back seat" setting, warmth is not always readily available and food even harder to find. Enter the Sunrise Cafe in Cooper Landing. This cozy little cafe is a perfect place for thawing out. The. food is home made, generous and good, and the natives will chat about the surrounding area, while giving excellent service. There is a small gift shop, gas and snacks too, but take the time to stop.
