Our 2011 visit was our first trip to Aitutaki and we stayed at both Samade and Inano up the top end by the airport (see reviews). We booked this spot as we were again there for kitesurfing and the closeness to the wharf and stores/eateries appealed. We were also celebrating our wedding anniversary during the stay and had specifically requested the beach front bungalow approx 6 months out from arrival. We were told that it was unavailable but we could have one that was one back from the beach. However once we were there the absolute beach front bungalows had guests in residence for 1-2 nights then sat empty for an entire week. We enquired several times and were told they had guests arriving - this was rubbish as they then upgraded a young couple who had just arrived to one of these, the other remained empty. That couple stayed a few nights then left. We meanwhile were there for 14 nights with scooter hire for the entire stay. Upon arrival we were told that our room would be serviced every 3 days. No one lives on site so once they left we were left to our own devices, only problem that day was that the weather was unseasonably VERY cold at night and we had nothing other than a sheet on the bed, not a single blanket to be found even though there was a mezzanine floor with 2 singles - I stripped their sole sheets and added to our bed. We both got up in the night and put on the clothes we'd flown from NZ in - and still froze, not a pleasant first night in paradise. The first room service was at day 4 the following service was when I finally cornered one of the staff as we'd run out of toilet paper and I had had to purchase some at the store, the same for the soap. Our beach towels were salt crusted and not drying in the humidity and our dishwashing liquid had also run out - not to mention the so called mini bar stock in the fridge which consisted of 4 export gold beers that were all WELL past expiry, being the first night and having arrived late we ventured to open two - hideous. To add to the lack of service I also lost an expensive clothing item which must have been on the bed when I finally demanded our room be serviced. We enquired about this and with no hint of blame asked if they could check their laundry (off site of course) for the missing item - no word. Much to my dismay. Considering it wasn't worn outside of the room does rile me. Overall it is a lovely beach and proximity to everything was great, the lack of room servicing and the fact no one lives on site and you have no way of contacting them is frustrating - especially when we had no hot water for 3 days and the nights were cold, cold showers after a long day out on the motu kiting wasn't that great. They didn't really seem to care when we told them anyway. Beware the fact they required FULL payment up front, we paid $200 per night up front for 14 nights which we felt was extortionate given the great accommodation on offer on Aitutaki. If we hadn't paid up front we would have moved. We refused to pay the full scooter hire upon departure and they knew they had let us down so took a cut rate. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here, it's run down, badly managed and a rip off. Everything else on Aitutaki is fabulous. Check out Wet & Wild Boat Charters, Quinton & Melo are FABULOUS hosts and a top rate experience.

We stayed at Aitutaki Beach Villas in August for 4 nights and had a wonderful time in what seemed like paradise.
The villa was in a beautiful position right on the beach - great for swimming and snorkelling with an abundance of tropical fish to see.
The villa itself was comfortable, lovely and clean with a fantastic view from the landing. The lady in charge was very welcoming and helpful.
It was a very short 2 minute walk to other resorts for meals, but it also had an excellent kitchen for self-catering and enjoying the beautiful position it had to offer. We had a wonderful time and hope to return next year for a longer period of time.

My husband and I just got back from the Cook Islands. We spent a week on Aitutaki at the Aitutaki Beach Villas. The location, accommodation and the help from the manager, Milani, was all that we could ask for. The villas were lovely! They were very clean with full screens. We were mere steps to the gorgeous beach and snorkeling. The lagoon was idyllic! The water had loads of beautiful fish and perfect for snorkeling, even for beginners.
Travel around Aitutaki requires either renting a scooter or car. Milani, the manager, easily arranged a scooter for us. Milani also arranged a lagoon cruise with Aitutaki Adventures and deep sea fishing with Black Pearly Fish Charters, for us. Both were excellent!
We really appreciated Milani's extra care in making our trip truly memorable!

Stayed 4 nites at the Beach Villas and enjoyed every minute. We stayed in one of the Absolute Beach Front Villas which is definately worth it - saw whales breaching (15 times!) from our balcony, I walked along the beach in both directions and the best beach was definately in front of the Beach Villas. Having a scooter to use was excellent (even though the island didn't have any fuel as the boat delivering it was 2 weeks late! - we had to beg petrol from our boat skipper and the next door neighbor -the fun of the fair. A great place to eat is Ta-Uno's organic garden - a 5 minute stroll up the beach - delicious organic vegetables, herbs etc. - delicious. The lagoon cruise with 'BlackJack' was a definate highlight - the clarity and marine life just amazing. Such extraordinary, unspoiled natural beauty here - we will definately be back.

Room Tip: Absolute Beach Front definately worth it.

We spent 3 nights at Aiutaki Beach Villas from September 8 2012 and it was great. The beachfront villas are very claen and comfortable with amazing hosts Ivy and her team. Complimentay white wine and fresh fruit basket were gratefully received as was the helpful advice about trips on the islands, where and how to shop and top class restaurants and cafes. Try Tapunas and Kokus Cafe - the best on the Island - great coffee.
The kayaks and snokeling were fantastic fun with hand feeding tropical fish a daily pleasure. Hire the scooter for just $20 per day - great fun to get around. With expensive resorts just down the beach you can enjoy ABV with a beatufully raked private beach- much better - without the exhorbitant price tags. Don't delay go there now.

Room Tip: The absolute beach villa is the best

I stayed for 4 weeks with my boyfriend in one of the Aiatutaki Beach Villas. I cannot praise Paka and the villas highly enough. We had a gorgeous garden view beach villa (but we could still see the sea actually!) which was clean, spacious and comfortable. The shower room was modern with hot water at all times. The kitchen had 2 hobs, a microwave, large fridge freezer and free tea and coffee.

We were able to arrange airport transfers easily by email with John and were greeted with beautiful leis. Paka was ready to greet us at the villa when we arrived with a great big smile

We brought snorkels and fins with us and the first thing we did when we arrived was snorkelling :) Best thing in the world after 40 hours of travelling time!! The water is deep enough to swim in by the villas which is not the case at some other places and Paka would sweep the beach so there were fewer stones under foot. Although, the stones here were gentle on your feet unlike further north on the west side where they're rather painful!! There are kayaks provided free of charge and 2 hammocks from which you can enjoy the sunsets every night :)

I researched the villas to stay pretty extensively before we arrived and was thrilled with our choice. Paka and her son Dean were super from start to finish and I would LOVE to return one day to visit :)
