We've just returned from a wonderful few days in Aitutaki staying at the Tamanu. We were there for the kitesurfing festival, so were out and about, but so lovely to come back to our beautiful bungalow at the end of the day and enjoy the serenity of the place. perfect for couples wanting a break from it all. We dined at the restaurant and were really impressed, beautiful meal, great service. I had the lamb pasta dish, and the lamb was done just beautifully, my husband had the steak which was to perfection. The week was over all too soon!

Tamanu is a beautiful, affordable, friendliest and clean place to stay in Aitutaki.
We have studio garden bungalows which still have views of the lagoon. We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. Staff were very friendly. Plenty of snorkeling/kayak gear.
Restaurant had great food and affordable. Complimentary bikes are available for guests to use which is a great way to get around.
Room was cleaned everyday and fresh flowers were left in the room.
We stayed at Pacific Resort Rarotonga which doesn't even compare to the wonderful service you receive from the team at Tamanu - will definitely be back!

We stayed in a lagoon view room at Tamanu for 5 nights. This is the most relaxing place on earth! We were there for our 10th anniversary and my birthday. Our hut was just amazing with a wonderful porch and great living room. This is absolutely the best snorkeling I have ever experienced (and we have snorkeled all over the world). The staff is available to help you if needed but you have all the privacy you could ever ask for. The restaurant has great food and drinks. Actually after spending 7 nights in Rarotonga I will say this was some of the best food we had and the prices were extremely reasonable. We arrived on my birthday and they were able to have a cake made for me at my husband's request to surprise me that evening. The pools are very small but so few people are around that we only went to the pool once when someone else was there. The staff even washed a load of clothes for us! They helped us set up tours and everything was so easy with them. The bathrooms could use some upgrading but they were adequate and clean. I would highly recommend staying here. It is adult only!!

Room Tip: I was encouraged by my Costco travel agent to choose a lagoon view room. I am glad we did because l...

Tamanu was a lovely place to stay in Aitutaki and we loved every second. We had a studio garden bungalow but, after arriving in the dark, woke to see that we had a lovely view of the lagoon and pool. Perfect to watch the sunsets from. It was the perfect middle-of-the-road accommodation, it might not have been the flashest most modern place to stay but the price meant we could stay longer, 10 nights, and we really settled in and it felt like home. Free kayaks, snorkel gear and bikes. Great snokelling just to the edges of the resort. Restaurant on site, genuine friendly staff, comfy hammocks, rooms cleaned, beds turned down and fresh towels every day -- fresh flowers decorated the restaurant every day too -- lovely New Zealand managers. I'd go back. Plus the decor in the rooms was white linen bedspreads -- not like it shows in the photos -- it was lovely. And had air conditioning.

Really enjoyed our trip at Tamanu Beach. The studio was more like a bungalow and had beach views. The restaurant served great food and was reasonably priced for the Cook Islands.

The only negatives would be the roosters that woke us up extremely early every day and expensive and slow wifi. I think if you are paying $400 a night, wifi should be free - not charged at $10 per hour

We really enjoyed our stay here, the beach was nicely groomed and with nice white sand.

The snorkeling was one of the best spots on the island they have a giant clam directly in front of the resort. Look for the yellow boy off the beach. If your not a big snorkeler you only have to walk in to the water knee high and are greeted with the beautiful tropical fish and coral. I had a couple of the fish trying to clean me, pecking at my leg. That was a awesome experience.

The bungalow was excellent and modern. Workng Hot water and air conditioning. Very nice accomodation. The food in the restaurant is in need of improvement. Fortunately there were many excellent places nearby to eat, we recommend hiring a scooter and visiting the Koru cafe for breakfast or lunch. The boat shed bar and grill, good value for money. Cafe Tepuna was nice, but a bit more expensive.

Make sure you visit Tauono's garden cafe, a couple minutes walk north along the beach, look for the yellow steps and follow the path along the tree line through the gate into the back yard of the house and carry on to the other side of the house. Great restaurant quality lunches here, in the casual settings of a local house.

Scooter hire is reasonable just show your own licence from your own country if you can ride a bike you will be able to ride a scooter for the first time like we did. You can easily travel right around the island in half a day at a leisurely pace. We kept a scooter for several days and visited all the cafes restaurants and other snorkeling spots. We only found one other area which had snorkeling as good as Tamanu, The Pacific resort.

We recommend the local family run boat tour, the trip was professionally run and with less people on the boat than other operators you will see more fish. We went out to one foot island, and to the clam farms, snorkeling out there was very good.

We also stayed at the main island, which is very touristy and crowded in comparrison, if you had the choice stay on Aitutaki.

An absolutely beautiful paradise here on earth!!

We will definitely go back to Aitutaki.

Room Tip: We were in a bungalow three back from the beach and we still had a beach view. Tamanu has two areas...
