Pacific Resort Aitutaki
Ranked #2 of 10 Hotels in Aitutaki
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 30, 2013

Aitutaki is about as far away as you can get from our home without starting to come back again and I expected and enjoyed the remoteness while being comforted by the luxury and excellent service. This hotel is the best on the island, it has a small number of luxury bungalows right on the beach (shame the roofs are plastic). The lagoon offers easy snorkeling (kit provided by the hotel) easy kayaking and even easy walking (specialist shoes provided by the hotel). The setting is beautiful North West facing, so good sunsets. The beach is long and the parts beyond the hotel boundary full of interesting things to see. Venture farther afield to the local town for local life and color. There are bikes to use if it's not too hot. The pool is well designed and the pool bar/cafe provides all the refreshment you could want. Things are expensive but you are a long way from everywhere so it's not surprising. The restaurant is excellent with some tables directly above the beach and/or pool. Island night was a hoot but some of the local dishes were best avoided (I'll let you decide which). The staff are wonderful; always smiling, friendly, helpful and skillful. Island time does dictate the pace though so be aware.
Don't want to end on a negative but on the day we left we had paid for 'day use' as our flight was not until 18:00. We were asked if we would move rooms as ours was needed for a new arrival. Inexplicable in a hotel selling itself as world class. It isn't that but it is very good. We didn't move by the way.

Room Tip: They are all good, some are further to walk from the pool/restaurant but only by 50 meters.

Aitutaki is an unreal place to visit and staying at the Pacific Resort was unforgettable. My husband and I chose this as our wedding destination and it was the best decision! The location is beautiful and the size of the resort was perfect for us in that you can get a lounge chair by the pool when you want, a seat in the restaurant but still be surrounded by other guests.

We stayed in an Ultimate Beachfront Suite and it was beautifully appointed. Large bed and bathroom. If you are looking for a large TV and fast internet then you won't find that here, but trust me you won't be interested in any of that especially if you are on your honeymoon, or looking for relaxation as the island and resort is too beautiful to waste time watching TV!
Each evening the staff do a turn down service with a little treat and daily newsletter which is just a nice way to finish the evening.

The food is AMAZING! We ate some of, if not the best meals we have ever had. The food was simply divine. The prices were reasonable for what you get as it was fresh, and superbly cooked cuisine. We did the private dinner on the beach in the cabana and opted for the 5 course degustation menu. Every course that we had was unique and unbelievably good. We have fairly high standards with food so we were really impressed with every meal we had at the resort. We didn't bother eating anywhere else as family had mentioned some of the meals they had elsewhere were ordinary.

As far as our wedding day goes, it was the most wonderful day. The staff really made our whole experience unforgettable not only on our special day but throughout our stay. They really went out of their way to help with anything. The organisation before and during our wedding day was also high class and everything was organised via email. I had no doubt that on arrival everything was attended.

We also had a couple of treatments in the Spa which we would highly recommend.
We did see some other accommodation around the island, but to us Pacific Resort wins hands down for location and first class accommodation.

We would recommend this place for honeymooner's or couples looking for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday. You will not regret staying at the Pacific Resort and we hope to return in the near future!

This is the most beautiful resort we have seen to date. We had booked a "Premium Beachfront Bungalow", but found ourselves in an "Ultimate Beachfront Villa". We found out we had been upgraded to this suite to accommodate other guests. What a treat! Everything about this resort is exceptional. Yes, it may be somewhat pricy, but we elected to stay there for our 2 days in Aitutaki, and we certainly do not regret it, even without the upgrade. The surrounding grounds, pool, restaurant, beach, and so on are simply outstanding. We will most probably never go to the Cook Islands again in our lifetime, and we are glad we went to this resort for this once in a lifetime experience!

The experience started when we were greeted by Nga at the airport, and then personally greeted by Greg the resort Manager on check in. Nga became our go to guy for anything we wanted arranged, fishing, snorkelling, restaurant bookings nothing was a problem.
The beach front bungalow looked better than the photos which were amazing.
Food was top class we only dinned in the restaurant for breakfast and 2 evening meals. The rest of the time we dinned at the pool bar. The staff here were so friendly and having a cocktail named after you on the date of arrival was pretty special. Do not miss Island night where you get all the best local foods and amazing entertainment. The pineapple pie for desert was sensational.

A big thank you to Greg, Nga and all the staff.
We will be back, sooner rather than later

Room Tip: Rooms on the beachfront North are best

Well not much to say, it is easily the most beautiful place i've ever seen.
We visited some of the other resorts just to see how they are like and i can say for sure that the Pacific Resort was the best by far. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, we almost felt like being in a small family! The food at the Resort was good but if you want to have a proper island experience, Tapuna's is the place to go. Would have liked to see more island/seafood options on the menu at the hotel, very standard international hotel food. Funny thing, the food was better at the pool bistro than in the restaurant, even if it probably comes out of the same kitchen, lots of other guest were under the same impression. Still very much enjoyed the holiday und if i ever have the chance to come back i'll definitely stay at Pacific again! Very calm and peaceful place! Cheers to the whole hotel crew who really did an awesome job!

Thank you Jason & staff for making the second week of our honeymoon unforgettable!! We appreciated the personalized service from all staff on the resort, whom were all genuinely kind, extremely professional, and helpful. Whatever we desired was provided for us. The outstanding service we received from the resort's staff made our stay that much more memorable.
The food was delicious, true 5 star quality! The chefs & kitchen staff accommodated our dietary restrictions (gluten & dairy intolerance) for many menu selections.
Our room accommodations exceeded our expectations, we had tons of space and privacy - true luxury! We even shared our room with some tropical friends - geckos & the resort cat, whom we adored :)
We loved everything about the Pacific Resort Aitutaki's experience, and made great use of the bicycles, gym and kayaks provided to guests! The lagoon was beautiful to look out at, but a bit deceiving -not the best to swim in, water shoes definitely had to be worn at all times.
We had an amazing time on the Te King lagoon cruise- awesome snorkelling & one of the best meals we ate on our trip overall - a definite must do!!
Thank you Pacific Resort Aitutaki for making our honeymoon so incredible, and allowing us to experience a place that truly is heaven on earth!

Our hotel in Aitutaki is just so beautiful, and we have a beach-front bungalow with a large verandah where we can look out over the lagoon surrounding the island and just relax. We had our own loungers on the beach right in front of our bungalow, though I personally prefer to relax in the shade, so the verandah was perfect for that. There are only 27 bungalows in the hotel, so it's nice and peaceful. It was just my husband and I and the peace and beauty of the resort was exaxtly what we were looking for. Food and drink was rather expensive ($NZ55 for the cheapest bottle of white wine), but that was the only thing that wasn't perfect. It was a hardship, having to be in such a beautiful place, but someone had to do it.
