Owner description: The ‘must do’ day lagoon cruise aboard the 21 meter Polynesian style Vaka Titi ai Tonga. Every morning at 10am Mondays to Saturdays, the sound of the conch shell signals the departure of the Vaka for six hours of lagoon magic. There’s snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing to do before tucking into to an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish served on board and accompanied by a full bar service. Visit several motu (small islets) and beach comb at One Foot Island before returning past the old TEAL flying boat base. Impromptu entertainment by the crew will have you tying pareu, weaving coconut leaf plates or humming island tunes. Tour includes pickup from your accommodation on Aitutaki. Resorts adn Hotels on O'otu Peninsula are within easy walking distance from the departure point and the Vaka docks directly at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort and Spa to pick up guests from there. We look forward to take you to the magic that is Aitutaki's lagoon.

The food, fantastic! Snorkeling, amazing! The staff, super entertaining! The day trip, unforgettable!

I can totally recommend this day trip. It is definitely worth it. Make sure you meet "George", the giant fish.

Not only were they serving us an unforgettable cocktail of stunning scenery, great hospitality, superb food and divine diving. Since we forgot to bring our passport to be stamped at the small postoffice of The one foot island. The captain immediately offered himself to see to that we got the stamp fixed the next day. That is what we would call first class service. We highly recommend this tour for everyone.

There are two main companies that conduct lagoon tours in Aitutaki, we took the Vaka Cruise, our friends mistakenly booked the other. We were picked up from our hotel in Rarotonga, took a short, 45 minute flight to Aitutaki, and were met at the airport by Vaka staff. The staff of Vaka were great, they were very professional, entertaining, informative and the lunch was fantastic and there is beer for purchase along with complementary soda . Sadly our friends didn't fare as well on the competing boat. The ground tour of the tiny main island was very interesting, we then boarded the nicely finished catamaran which had lots of shade and loo's, and thick, new beach towels for each guest. The lagoon is extraordinary and should be on everyone's bucket list to see in their lifetime. You visit several small islands, or islets, for varying amounts of time and they stop at a great snorkeling spot whereby you are visited by huge fish that are fed by the staff and who all seem to be named, George.

At the end of the day, these proud and honorable people are thrilled to share their special part of the world with travelers. It was a day well spent!

Lots to see and do on this trip. Stopping at picture perfect islands and swimming with Giant Trevalley. The tour leader Paul was the perfect host for this trip. It's experiences like this that make you wan't to go back again tomorrow.

After 12 years away, the vaka cruise doesn't cease to amaze me! My third time enjoying this cruise, my husbands first and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The lagoon in all her beauty is viewed from the comfort of this vaka, there is ample room, you are seated at a table for the journey, and there is an on board bathroom for your convenience which isn't available on many of the smaller tour operator boats. Be sure not to forget your passport so that you can get it stamped on arrival at One Foot Island (Tapueatai) the story of how the name of this Island came about is a beautiful story about the love of a father for his son. Of which I wanted my husband to hear on the cruise, but somehow it got massacred by the tour guide on the day which angered me somewhat, so told my husband about it when we got back to our hotel, our history is beautiful, and I would like this guide in particular to take note, if you laugh at our history while trying to tell visitors about it, will they take you seriously?
But aside from that, the cruise is an excellent way to see the lagoon and would recommend it.
