“Book it!!!”

With Jason as Captain and Don as your on-deck host, you'll enjoy sport fishing for all types of sport fish. Don always has a story to tell, and Jason has a keen eye to get you on the fish. In two charters, my wife and I caught 56 fish . . . mostly yellow fin tuna. That's right 56! Yes we got lucky, but Jason and Don are great!

“Watch out, we got ripped off.......go with Black Pearl instead.”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

A mate and I went out last week with the Foxy Lady guys and caught some Tuna which was great. We had a problem with a motor (they had 2 motors) and the weather conditions were calm but the skipper took us in at 8.30am (the booking was from 5am to 11am). I felt sorry for the guy given a motor fix would probably be expensive and didn't say anything, but he did not offer a partial refund or maybe an alternative booking. I was happy to let this slide as we had had a decent time, we caught some fish, and it wasn't as expensive as at home. What upset me was they said they would drop the fish into the resort we were staying at for the chef to prepare that afternoon. When the fish was dropped off there were 2 plastic picnic plates with 3 tuna steaks on each???? What the...?? We had caught 5 tuna between 7 and 10kg each. We were totally ripped off. When we were out fishing after we had caught the first 2 fish we mentioned releasing anything else we caught as we wouldn't be able to eat it and Don (the deckie) said they normally keep anything else we caught and would sell it to the local restaurants. So they gave us stuff all fish (maybe 3kg of approx 45kg we caught) and then sold our catch to the restaurants. Not the way to do business. Black Pearl (the other Aitutaki fishing charter) dropped a whole cleaned tuna my brother caught to the chef where he was staying so he could have it how he wanted it. When we confronted Brad the skipper about this issue he said that is how he does it every time. watch out. I would go with Black pearl next time, as they appear more trustworthy.

Yes this is most unfortunate that you feel this way. Most of our income comes from the fish that we catch and sell to the restaurants. ( As all charter boats here in the Cook Islands do).ALL FISH BELONG TO THE BOAT. and for those who come out on a charter with us and catch fish , can eat their catch for dinner that night. The fish supplied to you, was in fact a TUNA loin , cut in to 3 pieces to fit on the plate. (NOT FILLETS).From there, the chefs can either cut sashimi or tuna fillets to your liking. Had you indicated though that you wanted the whole fish, I would have been happy to oblige and taken it to the kitchen for the chef to prepare to your liking.
As for the charges, you had booked through the resort , which they receive a commision fee from that amount. Since you refused to take my calls again, we were not able to resolve this matter peacefully. After speaking to the acting GM , they and i had agreed to drop $100.00 off the total cost and also agreed to drop some more fish out to you which you refused.
Just so we're clear the weather that morning was most definitely not calm.

“Foxy Lady Fishing Charters”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Another great time in Aitutaki! We had four charters with Jason and Don and every day we caught fish. yellowfin tuna, mahimahi and wahoo. These guys work hard to put fish in the bin, and make sure you have fun doing it. Foxy Lady is a big roomy boat and is well equipped for all game fish.We are already making plans to return! Thanks again Jason and Don

“Fishing and Lagoon Cruise on the Foxy Lady”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Booked Jason in to take me fishing with a lagoon cruise with the family afterwards. Following a 5:30am start we were out in pretty rough weather and I was glad that I was on the Foxy Lady with Jason. He is a fantastic Skipper and really knows how to handle his boat. Unfortunately we didn't drag any fish in (other charters also missed out) but we got back on shore to get ready for the Lagoon tour.

Jason came by and picked us up at 1pm for the lagoon tour and showed off his piloting again zipping through the shallows like we were in a rigid inflatable. We stopped at a sand bank which is good for the kids to swim and snorkel and fed the Giant Trevallys and got some excellent photos and videos. A drink and some snacks followed and then onto Honeymoon Island. When we got back to the boat, Jason was more than happy to take us back to the snorkelling/swimming location where we had another good look around before heading back in. He was more than happy to take us to other snorkelling locations but recommended staying in the shallows for the kids.

I am more than happy to recommend Jason and the Foxy Lady to all visitors to Aitutaki.
