From the time we hopped on the Air New Zealand plane to the following week when we finally ate there we had heard nothing but good things about Café Tupuna and the crab in particular. We were not disappointed and the mud crab was the best we have tasted ever. Just the right balance of heat and spice with the ginger chilli combo and one crab to share between two gives you room for an entrée as well or as in our case room for dessert.
The Café is inland but easy to find and everyone knows where it is. Take your own transport or arrange for a pick-up.
