I booked to stay 5 nights at the dorm here. When I arrived the Receptionist showed me to the dorm. It was just 4 beds in a loft above the reception of the hotel. A sheet was an extra 250 francs. The dorm had no door and not even a wall facing the beach and of course no mosquito protection. So it wasnt suitable because of the Dengue problem in French Polynesia. I asked to see a bungalow it was nice but out of my budget so I moved on.

We loved this place. Our room was a garden bungalow. With only 50 steps, we were at the water. There were 2 garden bungalows,2 water bungalows and a dorm.A girl we met at the dorm did say it was hot.We didn't stay in these so that's all I can about those. Our room was comfortable and we had ceiling fan and netting around the bed.We visited during the off season but we were the only ones at the place and they spoiled us rotten. The owner and helpers were very nice and helped us alot.

They had a deck with chairs over the water. The kayaks were free to use and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The food was good.

It wasn't a luxury hotel by other peoples view but for us,the service and hospitality made up for anything else lacking.

We picked this hotel solely on price because it was the only hotel we could find that we could afford. We booked it before we arrived because if we couldn’t get a room we would have been stuck. We later found out that there are lots of other places (some cheaper) that we could have stayed in, who don’t have websites. However we were happy with our choice as we had our own little bungalow just feet from the beach which was nicely decorated. It wasn’t luxury but was nice and ticked most of our boxes for budget accommodation. There were a few major downsides namely lack of air-conditioning, which made the heat and humidity unbearable and the room was not fully sealed so biting insects had a free 24hr buffet!

The restaurant was quite expensive for our budget, but not for French Polynesian standards however the quality of the food could not be faulted. I especially liked the Mahe Mahe dish. The one major downside of the restaurant is that it closed between 1pm – 6pm which is ridiculous as you cannot get a cold drink from anywhere nearby and there are no fridges in the room. We used to go up to the Sheraton Hotel which is a 15 minute walk away.

The hotel does not have a beach and there are not many on the island but there is an over water sun deck that you can use to sunbathe and most of the time we had it to ourselves.

We stayed in a beach bungalow with an amazing view and we enjoyed our time here a lot also thanks to the very helpful owner. Another plus is the beautiful lagoon and the possibility to use the Internet.

But:
The breakfast is ok but not great.
The place is close to restaurants but there is no shop anywhere near to buy some food. However, this is not uncommon in French-Polynesia.

We stayed two nights on the ocean facing hut here. My impression was that the location was great---not perfect, but excellent. It is located on Cook's Bay, close to restaurants, and in the ideal water setting. The only downside is that it's further upstream than the Sheraton, so the water is a bit slower moving, causing some buildup of seaweed and algae. But, the snorkeling is excellent, the view is amazing.

The best part of this pension was that the owner, Auguste, is extremely helpful and will set up all activities for you.

I stayed in the dorms at the Motu Iti and I can tell you that it is definitely not paradise!
I arrived at the pension late because the bus never came, forcing me to take a taxi from the ferry dock for F3000! Upon arrival, there were no lights, no open doors, nothing to guide the traveller to the entrance. Fortunately a drunk on a bike told me how to get in, only to press me for money later.
The pension is located right on the major road around Moorea, which means traffic noise can be heard at all hours. When your bed's not shaking from the trucks rolling past, you can listen to roosters crowing at 4 am, dogs barking at 11pm, or the downstairs roller door going up at 7am, down at 12pm, up at 2 pm or down at 7 pm. This means having a nap at practically any time of the day is impossible.
Additionally, you are given a bed with only a thin cotton sheet to cover with. The dorms have one entire side open, which means that rain and cold wind can (and did) blow in any time. Despite what you might think about French Polynesia, it does get cold at night in the middle of winter.
The owners are very "hands-off" i.e. they are not terribly interested in interacting with the guests. This is good if you're here on a honeymoon or with a partner, but as a single traveller, it would have been nice had they made a bit of an effort.
I think this place might be ok if you get a hut to yourselves and you are there with someone else. It is certainly cheaper than much in FP. The view, like everywhere on Moorea, is good. Just beware that there is no beach here and of course, be careful of the dorms!!

We stayed at the Pension Motu Iti in August 2006. We loved it!!! The owners Auguste and Dora were wonderful and the snorkeling there was fantastic! We had an oceanfront bungalow for $120 a night. you can see the OWB at the Sheraton from the Pension, you may also kayak over there (free use while staying at the Motu Iti). You stay in paradise for a very reasonable price, would love to go back.
