“Truly delightful location, friendly host and incredible dessert”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

A group of us were anchored nearby on the shore and we walked to the restaurant aito. We went two times for lunch and each time was memorable, excellent steaks cooked to order with an amazing crepe and ice cream for dessert. Jean baptiste the owner is welcoming and you can happily lose an hour or two soaking up the wonderful sea views over a glass of wine enjoying jean baptistes stories and the lovely gentle background music. We all enjoyed our meal and determined to return. A really memorable place and unique atmosphere.

“Lovely evening”
Reviewed February 28, 2014 via mobile

Free pick up from ICH, by owners son. Restaurant is on non beach side so that may put some people off but when it's night and you are there for dinner it doesn't really matter. We enjoyed very friendly attentive service. We had langouste and flambé shrimps, both meals were excellent. Crepes for dessert which were also very tasty. Limited wine list but good range of juices and both local beers. We also had the pleasure of good music with 2 local men singing and playing ukuleles. All in all a very pleasant setting. Yes there were the owners dogs both of which were very well behaved and in excellent health so that didn't concern us at all. They lay in their designated areas. We would return.

“Quality food prepared by caring souls”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

Jean Baptiste, the owner originally from Corsica, picked us up at the Hilton Moorea. The new Aito is also known as The Spot is about a 15 minute ride from the Hilton. Jean Baptiste is very friendly and takes great pride in preparation of the food and the quality delivered to the table. His wife is also very warm, sincere, and a wonderful cook.

We started with freshly squeezed pineapple (ananas in French) juice which was refreshing and splendid! We had the langoustine (small lobster) and tuna with a made from scratch flavorful tomato based sauce. Both dishes made the grade and we were most pleased with our delicious meals.

The intangibles are the unique mix of ingredients that tasted so good and the expert preparation
that is involved to bring the taste of perfection. The owners take great pride in their work and their love of great cuisine is evident in everything they do.

We were treated like we were visiting family rather than like tourists. I encourage the discriminating gourmet that enjoys a comfortable, casual outdoor dining experience to give it a try. You will be glad you did.

“Not the Same Place as Before”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

Based on guidebooks that recommended Aito's as being close to the Hilton Moorea, my wife and I reserved here assuming that it was still the same outfit and especially that it accepted credit cards as we had just arrived in Moorea and were short of the local currency. Wrong on both accounts. The location is now significantly further away near the Intercontinental; it is not over or even near the water and it does not accept credit cards and the property itself feels a bit worn. Had the feeling I was in some village restaurant in India that I have experienced. They do still transport you to the restaurant, although it was in the back seat of a rather well-used SUV. Now don't get me wrong, we have been in these vehicles on the islands, just not for dinner. We were the only patrons at The Spot as it is now known, so service was certainly personal and was to be honest friendly. Really can't remember the specific meal, but it was actually pretty good as I recall. What threw me off was when the bill came and I tried to pay with a credit card and was informed that they did not take any cards. Even the Hilton Concierge Desk was surprised later by this. Luckily they accepted American Dollars and we had just enough to cover the tab by one dollar. Returned back to the Hilton and the end of a surprising night. Not sure what happened to the old Aito, but it apparently ain't what it used to be. Can't be sure I can recommend it based on our experience and there certainly are other more predictable and better restaurants on Moorea. Definitely don't rely on the pictures of the old location.

“Just stay away!”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

Very slow, very poor service! Big language problem- none of the waitresses spoke english, which was fine, but there was like no way of properly communicating with them at all! They got my husband's order wrong 3 times, brought us another table's food, I had my food on the table for 15 minutes, while they had to go back and cook his, because they didn't get the order right the first 3 times.. just not a good experience at all! And friends we met in Moorea all went on different nights and all had the same problems.
