We were a couple staying in the beach bungalow (Miro). This was an excellent location, very private, with beautiful view of the lagoon, ocean and the sky. Especially, the sunrise seen from the kayak in the lagoon was amazing. Elodie (the owner) was very friendly and extremely helpful. Free transports to and from the ferry terminal, booking of various activities and yummy homemade coconut cake with fresh pineapple every now and then was just a cherry on the top. Good idea is to rent a scooter or a car so that you are flexible and more independent in exploring the island. We stayed 9 nights and definitely would go for more if the time and money allows next time.

Room Tip: Go for the beach bungalow. It offers more privacy, stunning views (sting ray in the lagoon and whale splashing in distance beyond the reef). Breakfast on the terrace with refreshing breeze from the sea even in the hottest days.

We spent four nights in this pension and enjoyed our stay very much. It was one of our favourite pensions on our trip through French Polynesia. The location ist faboulous, we had one of the beach bungalows which we would highly recommend. We very much appreciated the friendly and attentive host, Elodie, which on two evenings surprised us with homemade pancakes and fresh fruit, and helped us to plan our days in Moorea. The bungalows are nice, the kitchen is well equipped and we have nothing to complain about.

Fare Aute is at the very south of Moorea. As there are only residences nearby it is very quiet and you need to go somewhere else to stock. It is a 30 minutes looong walk to a good pizza & crepes roulotte so you probably need to have your own transportation. The bungalows are ok, with a nice varanda. In the top floor it can get noisy on a windy night. The wifi reaches the last bungalows, but not the front ones. The kayaks are good to explore the nice reef. Patrice and Elodie are helpful. The price is right for Moorea standards. Patrice said he is considering a sale of the place, so if you want to buy an entire pension here's the chance.

This is a family run pension, small bungalows in an exotic garden right by the beach. The family speak English and are amazingly helpful. The bungalows are well equipped, there are kayaks and an outrigger canoe for use of guests and the breakfast menu (if you dont want to do it yourself) is to die for. They hire out cars and motor scooters and there is free wi-fi. Scooter is the best way to get around the island. We loved it and would love to go again.

Room Tip: All the bungalows are similar, facing the beach is probably favourite.

If you want to stay longer on beautiful island of Moorea (4 nights +), you prefer privacy and quiet place out of touristic centres (this term is a bit relative in case of Moorea), if you want to keep your budget under control in extremely expensive French Polynesia and in addition to this you want to face turquoise lagoon and to have beautiful hills from your back - Fare Aute is 100% right choice.
This facility is located on southern tip of the island, where locals live their way of life. Fare Aute offers spacious bungalows (some of them are beachfront), perfectly clean and extremely well equipped (full kitchen, big fridge with separate freezer, washing machine, TV, bathroom with all-day hot water), all with spacious verandas . Beach is nice, clean, but for really clear waters and perfect snorkelling you need to paddle about 100 metres into the lagoon (there is enough kayaks and one piroque for free).
Nice lady who runs this family business speaks English (which is not common in French Polynesia). Owners are nice and helpful, ready with advice or trip recommendation.
But be prepared to drive to all points of interest and the best beaches on the island ....which is not dramatic as its perimeter (i.e. only one road around) is 60 kilometers. Nearest "magasin" (food store) is about 5 kilometers. Then rented car or at least scooter is highly recommended.
