This was a bucket list trip to Alaska with some old college buddies. We found this place through a friend at work.

First the setting will blow your mind. If your lucky enough to get a clear day you can see all four of the active volcanoes across the Cook Inlet. This is what you'll look at as you eat your breakfast. There are two places for you to stay; the main lodge which probably holds about 15 or so guests. We stayed at the Eagles Nest Lodge about 1500 feet from the main lodge. We had this lodge to ourselves. This was more rustic but perfect for us. We were about 20 feet from the cliff with a picnic table and fireplace in between. The cabin had a fully functioning kitchen, gas grill, so you could be pretty self sufficient.

The lodge hosts (Alan and Nicole) were great from the minute we showed up until we left. They helped to get us settled, made all of our arrangements for the fishing trips we went on, packed our lunches for the fishing trips and cooked our breakfast each day. Each breakfast was hot, and delicious, and we didn't have the same thing either day. Beyond being gracious hosts, they were very nice people to just sit around and chat with and knew everyone and everything on the Peninsula.

They also set us up with two great guides for three days of fishing. Both were great and we caught lots of fish, but Kenai Kyle was a step above because he was so interesting and had many great stories from over 25 years of guiding in the area.

Finally, we saw so many eagles (hence the name) that we got bored looking at them. We also had a moose come within 20 feet or so of the lodge.

We stayed in the only cabin at the lodge, which was great! Comfortable room w/ well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom, gas grill w/ good utensils and an absolutely breathtaking view out the front door. there was a fire pit with wood out the front door where we built a fire and had a magical evening. Lodge and cabin were on beautiful grounds that were well maintained, and the 2 minute walk from the cabin to the lodge where we had breakfast was on a path that was surrounded on both sides by gorgeous fireweed flowers. The woman who managed the lodge was lovely and made great breakfasts. Didn't get to see what the rooms were like in the lodge, but if you can splurge for the cabin, it's beautiful.

Visiting Clam Gulch (7/14) for a wedding we found a room available at the Clam Gulch Lodge. The lodge is very warm and inviting. Nicole and Allen, who run the lodge, make you feel right at home. Our king room (the Sockeye room) was spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. The two upstairs king rooms share a large bathroom. Downstairs are more rooms, an amazing kitchen, large family room with fireplace, large screen tv, and room to relax. An added bonus, the view from the back of the lodge will blow you away! One of the best views in Alaska! Breakfast is included. Home cooking at it's best. We enjoyed fresh out of the oven biscuits, gravy, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Next visit to Alaska will include more time in Clam Gulch and the Clam Gulch Lodge.

Room tip: Upstairs room was quiet.

We stayed at the Clam Gulch Lodge for 2 nights recently in there cabin. What a beautiful spot and view we had from the porch, which had a bearskin on it. There were 5 of us and Im glad we are all close because it is really one big room and a loft. The kitchen had everything you could want and the bathroom was big and modern. Right across the bay from Mt. Redoubt, spectacular views. Only thing that could be a worry....no fence and it is a long way down to the beach so I would suggest no small children. Fire-pit was used for smores. Would go back.
