Despite it being the off-season (pro-tip: don't head to the Arctic in mid-October), Bettles Lodge provided everything we could want. We spent two nights in the cozy Aurora Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed everything the area had to offer. The cabin by the lake (2.5 miles away) was a great way to watch for the Northern Lights, and was well-maintained by the Lodge staff. The food was AMAZING--I'm glad I didn't spend longer in the Arctic, because if I had my pants wouldn't fit anymore! The rooms were clean and comfortable, with temperature control. The living room was comfortable and inviting, and the constant supply of coffee and tea in the back was a treat. The staff did everything in their power to make our stay a success; when I expressed disappointment that there wasn't enough snow for sledding, they took us out to meet the sled dogs anyway.
I keep trying to go places and then "cross them off the bucket list", but this is one location that I'll have to come back to!More
