Thanks Michael for your kind review.Of course we would love to have you back anytime.I would appreciate an expanded comment on "Lots of Wildlife" in order to avoid any potential misconception by prospective visitors between wildlife in our Mainland Interiors and wildlife/Marine life here on the Island/Great Barrier Reef.
Thanks for recommending Joe Jo's as a place for small groups, as indeed we taylor our operation to accommodate from a single Guest and up to 13 couples or 2 Guests per Cabin/Room.
Looking forward to seeing you next year!
Kind Regards,

Louis.

Though the title of this review was taken out of context, Paradise is not lost! Paradise was found by my wife and I at this beautiful, secluded island resort. Searching for your own paradise is a difficult task. You need to know exactly what your expectations are of your own paradise, and Joe Jo's by far met or exceeded ours. Louis, the owner, was very accommodating and flexible, promptly returning emails and phone calls when service was available. David, the manager, met my wife and I at Dangriga for a private boat ride out to the island. From there, it was all simply amazing. His stories, recommendations, and just general sitting around with us BS' ing were like being with family. He even took the time to teach my wife and I how to clean conch we had gathered while snorkeling. He then took the ones we caught and made a fresh conch crevice to go with our evening meal. And speaking of meals, Carmen and her kitchen preparations were simply delicious. Ample in size, with great flavor, every meal was looked forward to with great expectations. Served family style in the dining hall, allowing everyone to share stories of their day, normally at 8am, 12 noon, and 630pm. Theses times seemed flexible if you had an earlier event or late eventing on. Darren kept the grounds almost spotless. I almost wish the same could be said for the rest of the island, as there are abandoned buildings nearby, but they are in the process of being renovated, and there seems to be a fair amount of debris, whether it be fallen palm fronds or trash that washed in from the sea. Looking past this was very easy, as the views, as well as the clarity of the water and abundance of wildlife in the water, and the people of the island, were all wonderful. If you need white glove service, a butler, a big buffet with different options, lots of entertainment, or ease of getting to to meet your expectations, look elsewhere. It is not here! If excellent service by someone who knows your name, simple accommodations, beautiful views, excellent food, plenty of unplugged relaxing, and just a generally far healthier lifestyle than most of us are used to living then go here. We found our paradise, and we will return! While there, visit Kirk over at his Beliean Island beach bar and have a cocktail. Excellent! Or book a fishing trip with Nolan.I did, and experienced some great fishing for barricade just minutes out from the resort. We caught some nice ones! I really post this with fear that more people will find it and visit, and it will not be my private little paradise anymore.

Room Tip: All of the ocean view cabanas are within feet of the water. No bad rooms

Thanks Mike and Rose for an honest review of your time here.We will continue to preserve and build upon what we have achieved so far and certainly look forward to your return. We want to accept responsibility for the apparent "abandoned buildings"next door, which belongs to family ,but has deteriorated due to illness and eventual passing of my Dear Brother In law. Thanks for noting that some works have been done which resulted in a new Duplex cabin and which will continue until completely restored.Upkeep in itself is a challenge on an Island but with efforts the spotlessness at Joe Jo's will be extended. Thanks for spending your vacation here with us at Joe Jo's.

Tobacco Caye is a quite a journey to get to but once arriving at this very small island on the reef, one is immediately taken in by the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The boat ride out to the island is an experience in itself. The little hut we had was right on the beach. I found great reading spots and the steady wind kept things cool and bug free. There is great snorkeling right off the island but it is well worth the extra money for a five minute boat-ride to the outer reef for beautiful undersea reefs. The food was good and they even prepare your own freshly-caught fish. Above all, the quiet serenity, peaceful ocean views and breezes and the cold beer that was on hand made for a wonderful stay that made us quite sad to leave. Some travel tips: (1) there is no ATM on the island (though there is wi-fi) so you will need to bring cash with you (our money was perfectly safe); (2) be sure to ask what things cost in Belizean dollars (i.e. for the drinks), (3) they do provide some loaner snorkeling equipment; (4) if traveling with children, just be prepared for a good thirty minute boat ride over some rougher open water in a smaller boat and (5) bring your own booze if you can (otherwise you are at the mercy of the two bars on the island). A unique experience.

Room Tip: Choose a private cabin on the beach.

Thanks Chip for your review and happy to know that you enjoyed your stay.It is the first time that our accommodation has been described as a "HUT",which is OK in terms of an Island Adventure. So for public clarity would like to mention that they are same as we advertise as CABINS ,which are equipped with a tiled bathroom,Solar Powered Hot shower,a fan for still nights,Window Screens, and a hammock on a private verandah.

Thanks for spending your time with us at Joe Jo's and we will look forward to your next trip.

Cheers!

Louis.

Joe Jo's was not super easy to get to -- we flew into Dangriga and had to take a water taxi to get to the island -- but we loved it the three days we spent there.

It's quiet, relaxing, and a good value (though you have to consider the cost of getting there). All the meals were taken care of, which was nice, and with kayaks, stand-up paddles board, and snorkling equipment, we had plenty to do over the course of our stay. It was quite windy on the water, o if you're a light sleeper the ocean might keep you awake, but we didn't have any issues.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Caye or staying at Joe Jo's.

I have just stayed at Joe Jo's for the second time.
owner Louis could not have been more helpful with my reservation and the chalets and food are just perfect.
I would definitely wish to stay there again next time I visit.

Room Tip: all rooms face the open ocean side of the island so have a good breeze
