This place is great. The people are extremely friendly and beyond helpful. We spent a lot of time snorkeling. There is a ton of underwater life to see and you can so it right off the docs. The food is fantastic and is made by the sweetest lady you probably ever meet in your life. They don't have a gym or spa if that is what you are looking for but they do have kayaks, snorkeling gear and so much more. I highly recommend staying here!!

Even though one of us got sick the day we arrived and remained mildy I'll during our stay it was still a highlight! We were a little unsure about the whole booking. We were never asked for any deposit or payment and everything was set up and communicated via email, but we arrived in Dangriga, met Nolan who we were told would ferry us out and soon we met the staff. All four of them were incredibly friendly and amazingly accommodating. They cooked special vegetarian meals for us, we even got to learn how to make one of the dishes. When we needed medicine we were given things from their own medicine cabinets. They asked how we were doing everyday and did everything they could do to help. Oh, and the rooms were beautiful, the grounds gorgeous, the island wonderful and the snorkeling is the best we've done off shore. It was honestly better than many of the paid tours we've done in Mexico.

Joe Jo's was amazing! We will definitely be back! To be "objective" and help out here's a pros and cons list:

Pros:
-Clean rooms and freshwater showers.
-EXCELLENT snorkeling right off the dock.
-Balcony's overlooking the water for fish watching.
-GREAT food.
-Staff was amazing. Made you feel like family. Cooked up our fish special that we caught, and all around just wanted us to be happy and took great care of us.
-Free kayaks, free fishing gear, free snorkeling gear.
-Small resort. Only 6 cabins (only 3 were filled when we were there) so lots of personal attention!
-It honestly felt like an adult playground of paradise. Cold beer in the fridge for the taking, kayaks waiting for us, dinner bell at noon and six, endless snorkeling.

Cons (these aren't actually "cons" but some things to know if you go there!):
-Bring lots of CASH. There are a lot of things you will need cash for (drinks, the parks department fee, the boat ride to and from the island, and any day trips are $25/person/hour). BUT, while we did not have enough cash, they just let us pay the boat man when we got back to the mainland. Everything is very relaxed!
-No AC (expect to be sticky!)

Highlight of the trip: Helping out the reef by spearing some lion fish!

I really can't say enough how much fun this trip was. Very relaxing but full of adventure. Off the beaten path but easy to get to. I'm already saving up for next year!

Great place extremely friendly people so relaxing. The food was terrific if you're looking for some time of solitude and peace this is the place. My husband is a fisherman and caught many species. The simple lodging is just right for a romantic time. We would definitely recommend Joe Jo's and will be back without a doubt. As a matter of fact we will be back as soon as we have some free time. This is a place for simple living not many amenities just your basic needs and awesome diving snorkeling or fishing. Unbelievably there is wifi although we attempted to disconnect as much as possible. By all means check Joe Jo's out relax unwind and enjoy you'll have a true vacation at this place ENJOY

Of all the places I have visited and posted photos on in Belize, none has gotten the most attention as the spectacular sunrises on the Belize Barrier Reef from the verandah of Cabin No 2 at Joe Jo's on the Reef. There is no other sunrise in Belize that is more Beautiful. If you are looking to relax, away from the mad rush of life this is the place to go - no one will find you here! And if you wish you can still keep in touch with the world through internet phones and emails. A nice small island 30 minutes of the coast of Dangriga Belize, with few resorts, no cars, no bikes and no noise just the sound of the waves on the reef. Nice comfortable Rooms, great food great views. Perfect getaway for families and couples.

Room tip: Best view Cabin No.2 , Most private view Cabin No 3.
