The owners were both very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. My wife and I went to Escazu to find a school for our children and Javier provided a lot of insights into the area, and then arranged transportation for us to visit the schools. Their helpfulness stood out as exemplary. The house/rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location in Escazu suited us perfectly as it allowed us to walk around the neighborhood and get a feel for the place. Breakfast was very nice as well. Overall, a positive experience.

We arrived after a long flight, were met at the airport and brought to the B&B where we were greeted and made to feel at home immediately. Pilar and Xavier are warm and welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to help set up rental cars, restaurant reservations and any other activity you might want. The rooms are beautiful, the decor gorgeous and the gardens are fantastic. The inn is spotless and breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. We left their home and did some touring and then returned several days later. It felt like we were coming home. I would wholeheartedly recommend Casa de las Tias to any traveller.

We like the fact that the B&B is located outside in a quieter neighborhood of San Juan. It is charming and the service is very Personal. The owners are helpful and they look great after you.
The two rooms we saw, were both very nice an the beds are just great. Nice sheets and cosy cushions.
The garden around the House is beautiful, with mango trees and flowers. The House itself is made of Wood an painted in yellow with light blue window shutter and looks very nice.
We would come back every time. The perfect start for your Costa rican holiday.

Delightful Victorian gingerbread patio, beautiful gardens
House has only 4 rooms and they are small but comfortable and czy, with beautiful wood floors. No A/C but we didn't need it. Located on a very quiet, small side street with lots of privacy, yet convenient walk to supermarket and a couple of restaurants. About 15 minute taxi to downtown, 20 minutes to airport.
Host Xavier and his wife are gracious, friendly, and helpful.

We live in the mountains of Monteverde Costa Rica and travel to San Jose frequently for usually one or two night stays. Sometimes our business and or pleasure trips are near the heart of the San Jose area and we had been trying to find a place more convenient than where we regularly stay near the airport in Alajuela. We finally found it in Casa de las Tias! It's not down town but in the beautiful and not congested suburb of Escazu, just a short taxi ride from the heart of San Jose, which is very congested.

This is a charming B&B with owners responsible for creating that charm on the premises there to help with any questions, recommendations or directions. Breakfast on their lovely outdoor patio was simple, delicious and elegant. Given how close this place is to a main traffic artery, we never heard it. The room my wife and I had, #4, was spacious and well appointed. Beautiful and tasteful art from the owner’s world travels adorned the walls. The windows were screened and allowed wonderful fresh air into the room for a restful night’s sleep on a very comfortable bed. This room, as I believe all of the rooms, had it's own bathroom/shower, albeit a little small but perfectly serviceable.

We'll be back.

We stayed 5 nights and certainly enjoyed the experience. The owners--Xavier and Pilar--were pleasant and provided outstanding service and useful information about the area, Costa Rica, and local restaurants and transportation.
The house itself is attractive (all wood) and spacious, with quite a bit of public area. It's a great place to relax. On nice days we ate tasty breakfasts made by Xavier in the back garden and met the other guests. There was also an extremely comfortable front porch.
The house is located in a quiet, convenient, and safe neighborhood on the end of a cul de sac off a main road in Ezcazu, which is an upscale and close-in area of metropolitan San Jose. It is close to the airport.

I had a great time at Casas de las Tias. Pilar and Xavier are excellent hosts and the house is so comfortable! I loved the porch and the birds in the morning. It was a perfect end to a busy week!
