La Esquina de Buenos Aires might be located in the center of B A since it has all the charm and trappings of a local steak house. The sertvice is extraordinary and they try hard to please from the mixologist at the bar to the attentive table service.
Start with a Sangria, Mojito or a Capirinha.. You won't be disappointed. The wine list is extensive and there are more Malbecs than I have ever encountered. The prices are reasonable and your server can help with the selection. While there is pasta and seafood on the menu, the center of attention is meat. I mean why order "green lip mussels" in a steak joint? You wouldn't order steak tartare in a fish house.
The tenderloin is wonderful but if you order with one of the sauces, and there are a few e.g. bearnaise, Malbec wine, blue cheese ask for the sauce on the side. Otherwise your steak will come swimming in the sauce which overpowers the taste of the beef.
The speciality coffees are a nice alternative to dessert and my choice is Cafe Buenos Aires. Be sure to follow everyone's warning about making a reservation in advance and enjoy!

La Esquina de Buenos Aires gives you the experience of a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in Buenos Aires. From the pictures on the wall to the music to the compactness, the perfect ambiance has been recreated in San José. The Argentinean wines and food is excellent. No doubt the best steaks in San José. Be sure and make reservations. It will be packed.

The place to go for Argentinian food! Delicious food, exceptional steak.

It's a small restaurant so if you are going on a busy day make a reservation.

A must try is the sangria.

I recently just spent a week in San Jose and had dinner twice at La Esquina de Buenos Aires. My first experience was quite unique. The power was out in downtown San Jose and we were not sure if we would get any food that evening. I ran into Walter outside the restaurant opening the windows and asked if they were doing anything for dinner with the power out. He welcomed my friends and I in and said they would cook. My friend was a little worried about how they planned to cook so Walter took us back to the kitchen and showed us the wood burning oven and how they would prepare the food. We had amazing steaks and wine by candlelight that evening and couldn't imagine a better culinary adventure. I would definitely recommend reservations.
