I cannot imagine how a restaurant can rise to this level of service, presentation, and ambiance! Grano de Oro sets the standard for ALL of Costa Rica. Great pride is taken in every aspect of a dining experience, from a genuine welcome in the parking lot to the spotless cleanliness of the restrooms. A MOST impressive establishment indeed. I shall always have a fine reason to anticipate a trip to downtown San Jose now, which has not always been the case.

“A treasure of a restaurant!”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

This beautiful restaurant in the middle of San Jose is a wonderful discovery! We went there with 3 other couples and all of us liked it so well that we took other friends there the next evening too!
The food is beautifully presented and first rate! We enjoyed a chicken roulade stuffed with dried fruits and served on a carmelized orange sauce, sea bass in cardamom sauce, sea bass with macadamia nut crust, duck with a tantalizing sauce, and many more delicious dinners, all beautifully presented. The gracious service and elegant, quiet room made this a relaxing dining experience. The price was delightful--under $100 per couple, including drinks and desserts!

“Poshest place in San Jose!!”
Reviewed January 24, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is part of a hotel. It is really very beautiful, a stark contrast to San Jose as a city.
The food wad excellent, all perfectly cooked. The staff were very attentive.
Be aware that this restaurant is very expensive though.
In a city full of fast food restaurants, this was a nice find, and a lively experience.

Top quality food, attentive staff and excellent wine list. A little under staffed so slow service but a speedy email from hotel when they read this in the guest book was impressive.

“Platonic French Cuisine”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

My partner dined at this elegant restaurant last
evening and relished one of the best meals
I've ever enjoyed!
The black bean soup was wonderful as an
appetizer, but the piece de resistance was
the mind-blowing deliciousness of the
seabass prepared in a sauce that is one
of the glories of French dining...the
magnificent beure blanc! This
pairing of fish and sauce was incomparable!

To finish, we shared a first-rate creme brûlée.

Wines by the glass were excellent as well.

All I can add is "Wow, wow, wow, what a meal!"
