Casa 69 is a great place to stay, especially when traveling by yourself. There's a secure entry & exit which made it a really safe place. All of the staff was very nice & accommodating. I thought it was a great a great location where everything is within walking distance so that was a bonus! The only I didn't give full marks is because of the noise, which you are warned about & they do as much as they can with the sleep sound machine to counteract that. The train right outside of the place is what really got to me, but nothing you can do about it (and it thankfully stops from something like 10pm-6am). If you're looking for a safe & comfortable place in San Jose this is it! But just be aware there is a train right outside the door! I'd stay here again on another short trip!

Perfect first two nights in San Jose. Our room had a king and queen bed, with our private lanai. Internet, free calls to the USA, and breakfast. Not to mention the fridge, which we loaded up. Staff is friendly and the price is very affordable. Would highly recommend. Bar next door was very popular. Only con for me is the train that goes by daily.

Room Tip: In the center of town but difficult to find. One way street. About a $30 cab ride from the airport.

Walkable distance to the city center, museums, restaurants and national theater makes this little please a perfect base for staying in the Capitol. Few things to be aware if you considering renting room at Casa69: place located in the middle of district with active night life. Two night clubs are located on the same block and about 5 bars in 2 blocks radius. Things could definitely could get very noisy during the night. Street parking is almost non existent and we've being told by hotel receptionist our car could be vandalized by club goers. Casa69 provides inside parking for additional $10/night. Continental breakfast contained fresh bread and butter, jam, fresh papaya juice, fruits (papaya, watermelon and pineapple) and coffee. We ordered an additional omelette with ham ($7) and it was personal size. Staff was nice and attentive and we had great time. The only problem was absolutely no internet in the rooms.

Clean, affordable and close to city attractions where you can walk to by foot such as the museums and markets. A continental breakfast is included with the room fee (fruit, bread and coffee). The owner, Donna is very nice and gave us a lot of pointers to make the most of our stay.
The only Con was my room was getting a lot of noise from the neighboring bar whereas other persons I was traveling with did not have to deal with that issue....so it's all about the location! Room 5 and 8 from where they are positioned would get the most of the bar noise.
If I was passing through this area again I would definitely stay again.
FYI: If booking, I recommend going directly to their website rather than a 3rd party site to book directly with the establishment and obtain confirmations.

Room Tip: Room 5 and 8 gets a lot of bar noise!

During my trip to Costa Rica in March 2014, I was looking for a conveniently located B&B which was close to all of the major attractions in the city. Casa 69 fit the bill perfectly!

It is just a 7-8 min walk to the National Museum/Artisans Market, and a 15 min walk to the National Theater area. Dining/drinking options abound in the area, and it is ideally located for someone who is just spending a few short days in the city. The rooms were also great! Clean and well maintained, so no complains there! This is definitely excellent value, as I could not find another B&B this close to the heart of the city at this price range! I can't say enough good things about the staff! Everyone was genuinely nice and helpful! I looked to them for everything from suggestions on what/where to eat to where to go to get souvenirs, and the recommendations were always spot on!

Thank you Donna and staff for a wonderful time in San Jose! Looking forward to my next trip down there!!
