I booked this hotel online through their website the day prior to my trip after confirming over the phone that they had the rooms I needed. First thing they told me when we arrived "Sorry, your rooms are not available". We were tired and decided to take a 2 queen bed instead of to single rooms. The next day they offered to move us to the original rooms but we declined their offer. This hotel is in downtown San Jose. The surroundings, including the street where the hotel is located, are not pretty. There is a bar right next to it and you can hear people arguing and raising their voices late at night. Also, San Jose has an active train system. The railroad is just a couple houses down from the hotel. Those trains are loud. We heard them blowing their horns until about 9:30 pm. They will also wake you up early in the morning. The Hotel was Ok. Breakfast was fine. Fruits, Juice, coffee and bread. Towels were old and stained. Luckily, I always travel with my own towels. There are rooms in two different houses. The main house and another one across the street where we ended up staying. The wifi signal works only in the main house. There was no A/C, phone or fridge in our room. Finally, I think there is only one parking spot in the hotel. Parking on the street is difficult due to the proximity to the Nicaraguan Embassy and the Bar. Remember this is a house. So, if you need a room for one night this is an Ok hotel. Otherwise go somewhere else.

This was a great little hideaway in San Jose. Perfect for a night layover before you head to the beach anywhere. The owner was great and super helpful with ideas for where to go in the city. While San Jose is not a very touristy city and I wouldn't stay too long, the house is within walking distance to an outdoor shopping plaza in the 'historic area' and to some of the national museums and the National Theater (have a coffee here!!). There is also an amazing very real Italian restaurant next door. We loved the cozy house, its use of outdoor space, the friendly dogs, and our room which was perfectly sized, clean, and quiet. Even though we were up and left very early, there was coffee and breakfast on our way out! Would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Depending on where you book you get a free upgrade to a larger room on the top (third floor) with a...

Casa 69 was simply amazing, the best way possible to end our vacation on a high note. We arrived in the evening with left-over food in a box, which they kindly heated for us, and provided us cutlery and seats in the breakfast room to eat. We were upgraded for free to an available KIng suite from the Queen we had booked, and it was amazing: Tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, big comfortable bed. The reception area/lounge of the hotel is very welcoming and warm, like a private living room, with free(!) phone calls to the US and Canada. The staff went out of their way to answer questions, and did not hesitate to call local Costa Rica partners to find out bus times and other travel information. The location could not be better, you are 5-10 minutes walk from downtown and shopping.

As a Canadian couple who loves dogs, we also highly appreciated that the Canadian owner has rescued some abused dogs who now offer their companionship to any hotel guests who like to offer a scratch behind the ear. This place might as well be your family home, it is so warm and welcoming.

Wonderful staff. Great value for money. Breakfast and facilities were the best for value. The place was very safe and it is located in the quieter part of town. The breakfasts were simple but much more than you get in many other places for that price. I would recommend asking for a main house room. We stayed in both locations at Casa and feel that the rooms were better in the main house , and they had wifi as well. The signal is not strong enough across the road for that.

Room Tip: Look for the central rooms if you need wifi. The rooms across the road do not receive the signal fro...

I could not have been more pleased with my choice of B & B's! I was impressed with the warmly welcoming staff, the charming comfortable immaculate rooms, the delectable breakfast with a variety of tropical fruits, French bread with exotic preserves and butter, freshly squeezed juices, and oh!!! steaming cups of that famous Costa Rican coffee!
The ambiance is so cozy, you feel as if you were visiting good friends in their artistically-decorated home, along with many other satisfied friends! An abundance of beautiful foliage and flowers, arched doorways, pleasant little nooks in which to chat or read or decide which tours to take! Located just minutes away from downtown, it makes for a pleasant stroll for sightseeing and shopping. I will definitely return to this charming oasis!!!

Room Tip: Maybe the third floor rooms with that spectacular view from its deck...!
