My boyfriend and I liked this little spot so much we went back to San Jose for 3 nights during our month long trip. If you are an animal lover this is the hotel for you.
There are several house cats living at the hotel. They are very friendly and beautiful. We have 3 at home and really loved having them in the common areas.
Casa 69 has a very cheery home feel with Latin flair.
The rooftop terrace provides an exceptional view of the city and mountains. We loved getting take-out and watching the sunsets.
The Donna and her staff truly make you feel like family. From the minute we checked in we were warmly received. Donna has a heart of gold and she's more than happy to recommend restaurants, tours, shop or whatever else.
The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The staff is more than happy to help you get to the right bus stops, help arrange tours, really anything.
Everyone who works there cares about you and you can tell.
During the holiday weekend we slept in until 10. We realized breakfast stopped at 10 and were planning on getting some in town. When we walked into the dinning area they surprised us with a fully set table and had breakfast waiting for us. "We were going to make you leave without breakfast." we were told.
Later that day we were worried buses had stopped for the holiday. They called around for us and said that if anything didn't work out we could come back and they'd give us a free upgrade. Luckily we didn't have any trouble but it took the stress off.
Our first night at Casa 69 another guest, Shannon, made an incredible lasagna dinner for everyone. We had so much fun chatting with everyone around a family-style table. So fun! We were really fortunate to have friendly neighbors.
If you live in a city, like we do, you probably won't even notice the train. We slept like babies every night. The bars next door are also fun if you'd like to go out but don't want to venture too far. They are very nice to tourists even if your Spanish isn't great. There's also a Peruvian restaurant, and a pizza joint both around the block.
Pub Rock has a tasty menu of bar food $5 and under. The burritos were our fav'. They play music sometimes but it's never heavy base. We couldn't hear it inside our room, 6, at all.
