“Casa 69 was great!”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

Casa 69, a Boutique Hotel/B&B, was our first stop in San Jose. Ralph, Lola and others were very hospitable and helpful. Our room was bright and clean; great coffee and fresh fruit for breakfast. Casa 69 is also located within comfortable walking distance of the National Museum, the National Theatre and the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. In the downtown area Central Avenue becomes a very pleasant pedestrian mall several blocks long. Contrary to reviews suggesting that little time should be spent in San Jose, we found the city had much to offer. We spent five days in San Jose, 3 on arrival to Costa Rica and 2 prior to departure, and we were not at all disappointed.

Stayed there again for a pit stop on the way home on our last trip. The owner, Donna, was out of town but there were a couple new hires who took great care of us. Needed a 4am wake up call to get to the airport and we were pleasantly surprised with not only a wake up knock on our door but a fresh pot of coffee to send us on our way. The staff had also made arrangements with our prompt and professional driver, Juan, to pick us up at the crack of dawn. Great customer service! Internet available, television and close proximity tio restaurants and homey feel, we recommend Casa 69 in San Jose!

We've been staying at this B and B for four years now-have made three trips to San Jose-and it's definitely the best place to stay in terms of service and value. The staff for the most part are great, Ralph is amazing -friendly and helpful and will do everything he can to make sure you are comfortable and that your needs are met. Make sure to ask them to arrange your airport transportation, it's great to be picked up and not to have to worry about finding a cab-they will do this for $20.00. The rooms are always clean and comfortable-I recommend staying in the house across the street, it is private, quiet, safe and secure. The beds are amazing and are always great to return to after a couple of weeks on the beach. It's also handy to be in walking distance to downtown and to so many points of interest. I also love that this is a pet friendly hotel-my friend stayed with her large dog and was thrilled at how well he was received. Thanks so much for a great stay, we will be back!

Room Tip: I like the king sized rooms in the house across the street from the main house-quiet and private wit...

It took us forever to find this hotel (we were driving), and when we finally found the place, we almost decided not to go see the room (the blue door and neon 69 are not the most attractive), but we were very glad we stayed! The room we stayed in (king size bed and queen size bed with private terrace) was gorgeous. The bathroom is newly renovated and the shower is great. Breakfast was delicious (first time we had such good baguette in Costa Rica!). The only down point is the train that runs by (last one was around 8 pm and then around 7 am, so no train at night) and the fact that there was not Internet access in our room (in the building accross the street).

Room Tip: If you want Internet access in your room, ask the staff for a room in the main building (and make su...

Charming and lovely!

I stayed at Casa 69 for a week with my boyfriend for a romantic getaway. I am so glad we stayed here.
It is exotic and tropical but with all the comforts of home - home, only better!
The staff was wonderful and so accomodating. They treated us like royalty.
I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in.
The decor is ultra classy and our room was beautiful. The grounds were very well maintained and the place was spotless. 10 out of 10.
I had internet and phone, so I could check in at home - no troubles at all.
The location of Casa 69 is perfect - close to shopping, museums and a plethora of fine restaurants. In the heart of the city.
I fell in love with Costa Rica and can't wait to get back and stay at Casa 69.
Be sure to check this little piece of heaven out...you won't be sorry.

A pleasant place to stay in SJ. Good room, good shower, safebox in room, high security, Wifi in common area (but not in room). Breakfast is fruit, juice, coffee, bread and jam/honey.
The location is about 20 minute4 walk from centre of SJ.
The staff are very helpful and kind (with one exception), and do their best to help you enjoy your stay.
There's no water, or any other drink, provided in the room, and they have only water, beer and pop for sale - a small point for improvement.

Casa 69 is a hidden gem in San Jose. When we arrived in San Jose and were dropped in front of the hotel all we saw was a blue door with the number 69 on it. I thought, uh oh, what is this place. But behind that blue door is a charming hotel with some nice touches.

We stayed our first and last night in Costa Rica. We discovered on our second day that they have a shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the airport for only $20. Be sure to ask for it when you book your reservation.

The rooms are kitchsy with fun posters. There is a nice main area that you can hang out and watch TV. They also serve breakfast which we were not able to partake in because of timing.

In all a great place to stay for a really good price!

Room Tip: We stayed in both the main hotel and the one across the street. We think the room in the building ac...
