I stayed there for a few nights and it was extremely convenient, near the avenida Central and just across the street from one of the best restaurants in town (La Esquina de Bueno Aires). The staff was extremely helpful too.

Great location. Feels safe (even for a single girl). Great friendly helpful staff. Breakfast is simple yet sufficient. Expect 3-star amenities and rooms but clean. Overall great value for the money. :)

We love this little hotel in the midst of several embassies so very safe. There is an Argentinian restaurant across the street (sorry, we don't remember the name) but it is to die for. We've eaten there about 6 to 8 times and the menu and wine selections have never disappointed. You may need a reservation as this restaurant is very popular with the locals so call or stop in as soon as you arrive in San Jose. Hotel staff are wonderful. Various tours have always picked us up and dropped us back there with no hassle. Walking distance to just about everything in town and still a quiet street.

Room Tip: We usually stay in a first floor room by the pool

For people who like being in the very centre of things, this hotel is ideal. Situated some 200metres from the Avenida Central, there is no lack of bars, shops, public transport and other amenities.

My only but rather major criticism of this hotel is that it's extremely noisy. For light and not so light sleepers, the lack of sound-proofing is problematic. The cacophony starts at around 3:30 as the kitchen staff arrive to prepare breakfast. Furthermore, on two of the four nights on which I stayed in the hotel, I was awoken by some kind of siren going off in the early hours.

Apart from the noise problem, this hotel is visually spectacular and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. As far as I could tell, wifi was available throughout the hotel however, the television in my room was like watching some decrepit contraption from the 1970s.

Breakfast was adequate rather than anything special.

Overall, for people who can sleep through noise, then this hotel will be fine. The standard of service is pretty good and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

We stayed here at the beginning and end of an adventure tour and this was the worst hotel we experienced during 10 days in Costa Rica. Our first room had limited hot water and insane amounts of street noise. Our second room had huge amounts of black mold in the bathroom and a shower window that opens to the courtyard to air it out. The staff was friendly but would occasionally go missing at night, leaving guests ringing the doorbell for long amounts of time waiting to get in (which sucks if you are trying to sleep above the entry). The included breakfast was decent but often out of things (like silverware). The location is decent, but there better options.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the street and on a higher floor.
