I hired Costa Rica drivers to pick us up at SJO and take us to Quepos. It was a good thing I had that planned. At the last minute United cancelled our flight and we got to SJO at 8:00 PM instead of 2:00 PM. I would have hated to have to drive three hours in the dark from San Jose to Quepos. I called Christian to tell him our flight was delayed and we needed to change our pick up time. It was no problem at all. Our driver, Julio, was a very good careful driver.
Later in our vacation we scheduled a day trip with Costa Rica driver to pick us up at our hotel in San Jose and take us to Arenal volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs. Daniel picked us up on time and we had a great day with him. He was one of the most likeable people I have ever met. It was easy to be with him all day. He told us all about living in Costa Rica. We talked about the population, politics, coffee growing, housing, health care, and anything we could think of.
Daniel took us on a guided walk in the jungle near Arenal and he knew about the plants, animals, environment and Daniel was knowledgeable about everything. We had a long day and Daniel had to drive us back to San Jose at night. He drove us safely through the rain and fog near Arenal and I was completely at ease with Daniel driving. In fact, I dozed off and on while Daniel drove. I cannot say enough good things about Daniel.
The next morning Gitget drove us to the airport. She treated us like family and gave us hugs when we left her at the airport.
I am so glad we hired Costa Rica drivers while we were in Costa Rica because I didn't have to worry about damaging a rental car, getting lost, and I could be a tourist and ride along and watch the beautiful countryside go by my window. The really nice thing is we were not in a group and our drivers would stop whenever and wherever we wanted.
I felt that this was the best value I received in Costa Rica.
