“Oasis in San Jose”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

My family stopped in a quiet weekday night after trying unsuccessfully to find another restaurant that had been listed in a travel book. We were pleased to have gotten lost! The service was friendly and the food was amazing. I had the risotto, my husband one of the noodle dishes and my daughter a wrap. None of us were disappointed. It was particularly nice to find a restaurant that noted gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. The cost of the meal was reasonable as well!

“Fine dining in Bario Amon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

This is a great new restaurant in historic Bario Amon The owners are a very nice couple originally from Holland. The family has also owned the Hotel Rincon next door and just recently created this great little garden restaurant. It is managed by an awesome gal originally from Germany who had her own restaurant close to San Jose in Atenas. I mention all of this because you will find this place to have an international flare but with a Tico feel . The owners and manager all speak English as well as Spanish and of course Dutch and German so there will be no language problems for most. The atmosphere is awesome. It is in an outdoor garden setting but surrounded by by operable glass walls that you can't notice but it helps keep out the weather when needed. The food and service are first class. The Tico wait staff has the traditional Tico warm friendly attitude. The food is excellent. I was lucky enough to be at the opening celebration where they had tables filled with most all of their menu items and each was absolutely delicious. I also ate there 3 times for lunch as well as ordered carry-out sandwiches on 2 or 3 occasions. One of the lunch specials was chicken cordon bleau. It was outstanding. The lunch included a small salad, a fresh fruit drink or iced green tea along with the side. Another lunch was pork medallions in a mustard sauce. Cost for their lunch special was about average or just a little more for San Jose lunch specials but of a much higher quality. They also have some awesome wraps and sandwiches. The sandwiches are made on their own baked breads and are filling and delicious. This is the perfect place for a date or for lunch or dinner with family or friends. It is ja short walk to the Jade Museum and the heart of San Jose in Bario Amon. After my first meal, I had something there at least once a day and I know my way around Amon and where all the good food is. The deserts are first class. Try it once and you will be a regular while you are in town too. Buen Provech!
