Owner description: This 1917 building stands out from its bland surroundings.

Neo-classicist building with a touch of art deco from early 20th century. At the time an ultra-modern place with post and telegraph communications provision. These means are now part of the past and I wonder what the future destination of the building will be. No wifi, so probably not something related to modern communication.

Whilst the Spanish have a fairly torrid reputation in Latin America for having stolen all the gold and done little else, they did of course leave a legacy of fine buildings with iconic style and often with a local feel. This is one such building and serves as a commanding structure in the central square. It makes an interesting contrast with the modern Central bank building behind it

Is a very nice arhitectural building in a colonial style. In this buiilding you see the old and new Costa Rica. Outside and inside is decorate with huge white colomns from white marble. Must be a patrimonial objective, only to visit and to be a guide who must tell the story of this wonderful place. Also i sow one per week people who like philatelia met there and change efects or speak about very important stamps.

San Jose -boring city We were here half of day and not regret a single second that more. The look doesn`t stop on anything. The post office (Edificio de correos) is the exception that proves the rule. The architect of this building and neighboring - Edificio Herdocia is Catalan Luis Llach Llagostera. The style of them is combination art-deco and neoclassic. Edificio de correos has green facade with Corinthian pilastres. The central element - arch with the angels bearing the Coat of arms of Costa Rica. It`s interesting that the number of volcanos in it changed some times during Costa-Rica`s history. The Philatelic museum was opened in 1985 on the 2-nd floor of the building. And, of course, there`s the Tourist office what important for every tourist.

I'm not sure you would go here unless you are into stamps or require the need of a post office. However, it's well worth going inside and enjoying the architecture.
