“Cool Place”

Stumbled across the Gold museum while walking around down town San Jose. Price of admission is good. About 10 dollars if I remember correct. Lots of cool artifacts on the history of Costa Rica. A couple of video displays as well.

“Art and information in one place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

This museum's treasures and history was very informative. The relationship of gold in costa rica and the people are very well displayed. Photos welcome but no flash. Just a few blocks fom the Central market make sure you stop by.

“Facinating exhibit”

Learning about the craftsmanship and technology behind these gold pieces was very interesting. Coming to Costa Rica to view wildlife, it was fascinating to have glimpse into ancient peoples relationship to the same animals I would see on my trip.

“History With a Theme”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

I would call this more of a history musuem than an art museum. Yes there is a lot of art pieces, but the real theme is the history of Costa Rica as told by an examination of the monetary system and gold workings. My wife and I both enjoyed the visit.

“Interesting Collection but not very large”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

We had a good day at the gold museum in the city square in San Jose. Some pieces were very nice and it was wonderful to see. It isn't a very big museum but good for an hour or two and very centrally located. Parking can be a hassle and it's very confusing to drive downtown due to the lack of street signs and how streets stop and start. We did find our way out after an hour of being lost. The downtown are is quite congested.
