Owner description: The Jade Museum and of precolumbian culture is positioned as an innovative state-of-the-art cultural proposal in the protection and conservation of archaeological heritage in Central America. Located in the center of Costa Rics's capital, the building was especially constructed to house the museum's collection, its architecture evoking a cut jade block. Its five levels exhibit objects crafted by artisans specialized in solving their daily subsistence needs, their spiritual and political world.
Useful Information: Food available for purchase, Bathroom facilities, Stairs / elevator, Lockers / storage, Wheelchair access

This museum has just moved to a beautiful new building. The staff were all excited. But in the first hall, we felt truly disappointed. There were any number of beautiful jade objects, but not in any context. There are touch screens showing many of the exhibits, but they show all the items in the room, not just in the display case immediately behind them. These screens make it difficult to locate a particular object, and then all the commentary is only in Spanish. The second floor was not much better, while the third and fourth floors were excellent. All the same, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression

There is nothing like to learn about your predecessors and how things were done back in time. This museum is a magical trip to the past history not only of Costs Rica but for the entire Central America. You can learn a lot and feel more related with a place that has too much to tell

Don't visit as it is currently closed. It is relocating, and even the locals don't know that. We walked there only to find the sign posted. Wait until there is a new location with a phone number you can call to confirm.

In the national insurance company building. A must see with a very significant collection of jade pieces.

Tried to visit in Feb 2014 but it is in the process of moving! Not much more to say than that. Fortunately it was a drop-in on our attraction tour and we didnt feel bad about not seeing it.
