“Great Day Activity”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

This small but interesting museum is a great thing to do if you are in SJO and have a day to do something interesting. The building was truly a gem and worth going to see even if there was not exhibits. The Golden Room upstairs is breathtaking.

the truth is rather small, but has great WEALTH in jades which is a long stone intervals that Costa Rican natives buried to protect them, is very interesting to know its history, are stones of many colors and shapes, in general forms of tiger are very cute and well sculpted.

“A Small Gem”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

This building, a former airport is indicative of the high value that Costa Rica places on the role of art in society. I have been enjoying visits to this museum for over twenty years and have delighted in the various renovations and improvements that I have encountered. The Sala Dorado itself is worth a visit. My only disappointment was that there no longer is an exhibit section of the permanent collection of art which I so appreciated repeatedly visiting some of Costa Rica's best loved artists. Perhaps they are on display elsewhere. I was unable to find that out.

“Old Airport, great museum”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

You have to visit this museum, go to the Golden Room, which use to be the special receiving room at the Sabana Airport, original building of this museum. It is a beautifull Spanish building that served many years as the main international airport for Costa Rica, and now is the building for the museum, so not only the art and design work that is exhibit is worth seeing, go and enjoy the old airport!!!

“Must see”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

This was the original Airport. It is truly unique and one floor is dedicated to the history of Costa Rica all in hand tooled copper. It is reasonably new and is improving all the time.
