“Good Downtown location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2014

A good hotel well located in downtown San Jose, is a rather transient hotel or for a business trip, not a resort for vacationing. The hotel was remodeling making it a little uncomfortable full access to all the installations but is understandable. The rooms are comfortable but a little dark for my taste, more if you stay in one of the inside rooms.Good service especially in the restaurant, good compliments to restaurant staff for their care and service.

friendly service ,spacious rooms, only drawback was lack of natural light in the bedrooms. Our room had small window onto enclosed outside space.Staff were extremely helpful and great location near shops and museums.

Room Tip: Ask for window and not too much noise

The hotel is under renovation (at least the lobby seems to be) but it is not very good, e.g. phones do not work in many of the rooms, you have to enter via the back door essentially. Staff is great and made us feel secure given that it is in a part of town that can be iffy in the evening. I would check to see if the renovations are taking place and that the phones work - they did not for 2 of the 4 rooms our party used mid-July 2014

Stayed here for two nights and found the hotel to be really good.

The food is good and the service is excellent. The rooms are also spacious and clean.

Being right on the main Street it can be noisy at night but you should know this when you book so no surprises.

There are some great eateries around including an Argentinian restaurant which served amazing food.

We were told to avoid walking after sunset but my teenage son and I felt very safe on our hunt for good restaurants but I am sure not everyone would feel comfortable so I guess a cheap taxi would do the trick.

Definitely a great place to stay and we had an brilliant white water rafting experience to top off our stay.

From the fantastic breakfast buffet to the comfortable rooms and staff who work extremely hard for you this is a great oasis of quiet in a bustling city. Great Sodas to eat in, local grocery stores a short walk. A great base for day excursions in Costa Rica. We stayed here 16 years ago, returned and plan to stay here again whenever we return again.

My husband and I stayed here for a night at the start of our trip and were very happy with our choice! We picked up our rental car and made our way through the crazy streets of San Jose! The parking was a little tricky to find, but it was a safe, locked area to leave the car for the night.

The location of this hotel is awesome. A great little shopping street off the front entrance full of shops, restaurants and free sight-seeing.

They offered a full, hot buffet breakfast with lots of options.

Our room was HUGE! The biggest jet tub I have ever seen!!! Amazing and relaxing!!!!

Room Tip: We had a King room - amazing jacuzzi tub you could have a party in!

My daughter and I stayed here for one night as a stop over before moving down to the coast for the duration of our trip. We arranged to have someone from the hotel meet us at the airport and they were there on time with a sign so we could find them easily. Our room was big and clean and the bathroom was enormous, lots of hot water to go with the jacuzzi tub. Although there was a safe in the room there was the remnants of where a small fridge once was or might soon be, not sure. There was air-conditioning in the room but the view left something to be desired. The hotel was located in downtown San José so if you want to be close to the action this would be perfect. They offered a complimentary breakfast that was lovely, great selection of hot and cold food and Costa Rican coffee!! Mmmm.
