“Tour Misrepresented in Expedia”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

We booked this tour through Expedia and the description bears little resemblance to the actual tour. No lunch or coupons were included, as mentioned in the description.

They did take us to a president's house (boring) and various other sites including the National Theatre (very worth while). Unfortunately we were rushed through the gold museum which had a nice museum shop, only to be taken to a tourist trap for 45 minutes. This place was a jewelry store where they served us some drinks but basically all there was to do was look at stuff they expected you to buy.

After starving all afternoon because there was no lunch and being taken advantage of (the place probably gives kickbacks to the tour operator), I was disappointed and quite furious. We didn't pay $44 per person to be taken somewhere to buy stuff that we could buy anywhere. We went to a number of souvenir shops during our two week trip to Costa Rica and this one was the least worthwhile.

Skip this tour and take a cab into town to see things that interest you. This was a waste of money and an extremely poor use of time.

“Good Tour”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Overall this was a very interesting and informative tour. Gaston was our guide and he took us around the city. There is only so much that one can say about Costa Rica, so he repeated himself a lot in the 4 hour tour. The price was $51/pp and included lunch, admission to the National Theater and the Gold Museum. The lunch was very good. We all (husband, father, and daughter) enjoyed the National Theater. The gold museum was just okay.

Gaston walked us over to look at the Cathedral. It is not part of the tour but it was a block away and we wanted to see it.

To get a quick view of several parts of the city you may not normally see and to get some of the history of the country, I would suggest this tour. We were all glad that we went.
