“CostaRican Trails - 7 Day Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2014

I used CostaRican Trails because of a friends recommendation. I did not have time to research anything and put full trust into the staff there. CostaRican trails stuff was most helpful and everything worked like clock work. We went 7 days, Pacuare River, Arenal, Monteverde and did all from river rafting, canyon adventure, canopy (zip line), hot springs and much more. We absolutely loved Pacuare River and are glad we stayed 2 nights. The rafting was great and all staff amazing. It was a wonderful experience for my family and even my adult children had the best time. We never had done a tour like this before but will surely do something like this again.

“Amazing holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

Having spent a long time deciding what we wanted to see we sent our 'wish list' to costa rican trails. They provided us with a bespoke itinerary which was perfect. We were nervous back in April paying full price for our tour but from arriving at San Jose airport on 20th December until our departure on 4th January the whole holiday went like clockwork. We spent a night in San Jose and were collected early the following morning for our trip to Tortuergo. The transfer by river, accommodation and tours were great. We then took a small aircraft to Palmer Sur and the boat to Corcovado. What a magical place, this part of the trip was outstanding. On return to San Jose we were met to collect our hire car and then travelled to Arenal, Monteverde, finally finishing in Manual Antonio. We had many tours organised snorkelling, horse riding, volcano tour, hot springs, waterfalls, rain forest treks, everything went without a hitch. I would recommend Costa Rican Trails to everyone.

“Costa Rica Family Vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

My wife and two teenagers (18 and 15) took the Extreme Adventure vacation with CR Trails last summer and had a fantastic time. I did a fair bit if research online and ended up booking the trip through CostaRican Trails, mostly because of the great reviews on Trip Advisor. I was nervous putting a down payment and then paying the rest up front, but we didn't have any problems. CR Trails did a great job setting up the tour; the buses were all on time, the drivers were good, the voucher system worked every where we stayed, the hotels/rooms were very good to great, and the adventures were a blast. Our CR Trails contact, Ana Laura was very responsive and did a very good job, mostly via e-mail. We had a couple of very minor hiccups, mostly due to our being uncertain about luggage transfers to Pacuare (which ended up being a non-issue).

The highlight of our tour was the Pacuare River Rafting and lodge. The river was running high and fast, it was a blast and the guides were great. The lodge and bungalo's were also very very nice. Our tour also took us to Arenal Pariso (a bit dated) and the Paradiso Hotel (upscale) in Manual Antonio. If possible, try and see if they still book the Manuel Antonio trip with the extreme adventure package, we saw three species of monkey's which was another highlight.

I strongly encourage anyone going to take a couple of extra side trips, we zip lined at the Pacuare Lodge, took the hanging bridges tour in Arenal, and spent some extra time hanging out at the beach in at the Manual Antonio Park. We also really enjoyed the hot springs at Tabacon, Arenal, which was part of our tour. The waterfall adventure in Arenal, the catamaran tour in Manual Antonio, and the volcano tour were enjoyable (not as thrilling as we'd like, but still fun. We also stayed a couple of extra days so we could tour San Jose, which was the family liked.

Lastly, we took our trip the last week in June and the 1st week in July, which was the start of the green season. The weather turned out fine, a couple of drizzly days and rain most afternoons, but it didn't spoil the fun. Several days were quite sunny and enjoyable. Thumbs up for CR Trails, if you're planning a trip to Costa Rica.

“Barra Honda Cave Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

My wife and I used Cosat Rican Trails to do a day trip from Tamarindo to the Barra Honda Cave.
It was a fantastic trip and we both really enjoyed it, our driver and guide were both very professional and really helped to make the trip.
The walk to the Cave through the jungle was really good and we saw loads of birds and butterflies.
The Cave itself is quite breathtaking and stunning to be in.
Do be careful though, you do need to be reasonably fit and not afraid of heights.
The walk to and from the Cave was more strenuous than any of the other walks we did at Arenal and Montevrede, plus there is a 20m vertical ladder to climb in and out of the Cave (using climbing gear). As long as that sounds a good idea to you then I would definitely recommend this.
