My husband and I stayed in this hotel for two nights (Dec. 24 and 25) as part of Caravan tour. This is our first time in Costa Rica, and staying in this hotel was a great welcoming experience. Caravan picked us up from the airport; took about 20-25 minutes to reach hotel. Check-in was smooth; staff was friendly and helpful. Clean lobby, grounds and room. We requested for a higher level to get a good view and we got it. Our room was facing the Shopping Center with mountains as backdrop. Can see the windfarm from the room. Downtown can be seen from the end of the hallway window. Quiet room, comfortable bed and pillows, spacious bathroom, with safe, internet, wake up call. The hotel even delivered to our room a cake as a Christmas Eve gift - how thoughtful and welcoming! Green parakeets around the swimming pool area; relaxing area by the pool. We had great buffet breakfast (omelet, eggs, fruits, yogurt, bread, pastries, cereals, meat, veggies, coffee, tea, variety of juices) and dinner (plenty of vegetable salads, entrees, desserts, fresh juices). Located across the Mall which has American -style shops and food. Also saw a place selling native Costa Rican food. Very pleasant stay to start a 10-day tour of Costa Rica with Caravan. Glad Caravan chose this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher level has great view and is quiet.

much of the hotel was filthy

seriously question the competency of the overall management

the rooms are generally nice but the service is sketchy

I like the Club Tower concept but check-in service was weak at best, the food in the Club Lounge is not fit for a dog

lots of money per night = relatively poor value

All personnel should be trained except the ladies of Ambassador in the Tower. No folded table for suitcase in the room, had to wait 1 hour. Every day took shower cap away and didn´t put new one. I missed a comfortable seat in the room.
Factory. a waiter who had no idea at all about his job. Couldn´t even take orders. We were still eating entree and tehy came with main course. The second Perrier we asked right at the beginning and we got it at the end after asking 4 times.The guy had to write everything down all the time,that shows he is not capable for the job.
All questions took far too long. People are not interested. I know it is main problem in Costa Rica but we are in luxury hotel so my conclusion is that the Intercontinental hotels of Managua and Tegucigalpa are far better. Guatemala is also doubtful.
TRAIN people also in buffet restaurant to take empty plates away!!!

WHY all Intercontinental hotels have such heavy bedcloths. And that in tropic countries. Is all too much.

Room Tip: La habitacion era bien excepto una silla comfortable.

I arrived at this hotel as part of a tour group. The hotel is not particularly well located but is located across from a large mall with a food court so you can enjoy all of your favorite fast foods should you so desire. The hotel lobby was very upscale as were the rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in . We had a deep marble bathtub, bathrobes, etc. The room was very clean and my only complaint would be the lack of wifi. We had four meals at the hotel and the food was good as well. The breakfast buffet was amazing with made to order eggs and waffles and many other choices including fresh fruit, cereals, rice and beans, sausages,french toast, breads, etc.

Thank you for such a fabulous review. We feel privileged to have wonderful beds since we know when you travel for work, you deserve the best rest. We are thrilled to also learn that you could enjoy our array of great restaurants, particularly our breakfast selections.
We do have wifi service throughout our entire property, probably the signal was not available for some technical reason when you requested it, but I have taken note to check what could have happened.
We truly appreciate for choosing our hotel when you visit Costa Rica.

The 8 th floor has a view of the whole city at night was in room 874 next to the presidential suit everything is just roomy, beds are the best I have had in all the stays in Costa Rica, service and the club room is very good, separate everything as a member. the reason I can only give a 4 star is the Maintenance for the pest control, how ever by now they would have this under control is my feeling, there was never a paper on the floor or a flower out of place in the tower, I did get 2 of the critters and a spider handed one over to hotel management, the apology was excepted after all it is a tropical climate and Personally I've seen worst. The Hotel is Manhattan Priced or from the west coast Hollywood's drive prices, but there are perhaps say 20 restaurants about a 3 dollar taxi fare. if your a member the hotel has it's own taxies no charge. there is a mall out front the priciest I have seen, x box 360 - 700 dollars states say 250 dollars, this is a business hotel not for the budget minded. Members pay nothing, safe to walk around at night but then again u are not going far the highways surround the Hotel.

Regarding our pest control, we do maintain a very strict schedule covering the entire property, however, as you mention, being in Costa Rica, it is typical some time as part of the surroundings.

I have stayed in the Intercontinental in San Jose several times before. This was my first time staying in the Towers, The rooms are large w/ contemporary decor. I had club floor access. The club room has breakfast, tea 3-5 and happy hour 6-8. They had bar food with few healthy choices. Since my last visit they have opened a 24 hour restaurant called the Market. The Market has salads, design your own sandwiches and pizzas and variety of entrees. The lobby bar was very popular when I was there due to a coffee convention in the hotel. There are several other restaurants in the hotel. The spa is fairly new and attractive. I had a massage. There is a relaxation room facing a courtyard with a fountain. The spa also has a sauna, steam room and outdoor plunge pool, which gym guests can use has well. The gym is in a large airy room with an ample number of machines. The is also an outdoor pool. Wifi in the rooms is an additional charge, but some room rates will include it. The hotel is a bit far from downtown so leave 30-45 to go to or from if traveling during rush hour. I like that it is across the street from the Mall.

As a priorityclub ambassador guest I am delighted to share my views on this magnificent and gorgeous property in Costa Rica. The whole experience staying at this hotel was excellent. From the reception staff to the caring and prompt instant service, we experienced a wonderful and always corteous and friendly attention. Room was nice with everything expected in such hotel brand, the breakfast buffet at The Market was just great (open 24 hrs.) and the Club lounge staff and service was always nice. Location is, also, very convenient and ideal, just across the street there is a huge shopping mall. Highly recommended.
