Grounds are nice, it's out aways from town, so bus or cab or a long, long walk. She's been around for many years and it has gotten better over time. Casino has been reinvigorated. Working girls on the premises but not oppressive. Rooms are OK. Negotiate if you are paying in cash because I'd say she is over priced for what she is offering and the place is never full, not even close to crowded. I pass by there alot. But it's pretty quiet due to its location and that can be a premium in Quepos, hard to find a "quiet" hotel in Quepos, busy, busy, busy busses (regional hub), moto's, trucks all day, and most of them are kind of dumpy save 2 or 3, and I'd include this one as not a dump. Manuel Antonio is a different story--tons of nice places. Quepos is the support city for lack of a better term for the ZMA resorts. Banks, grocery stores, other commercial entities.

Room Tip: Away from the pool unless your life is a pool. Tour what she has to offer and then make the choice.

It's OK, nice pool. Casino? Bar is open. Place has been a long time hooker place, and some of them live in the apartments as part of their compensation. Hey they weren't over bearing but it is what it is. Mostly Tico clientele with the girls. None of this is a secret in Quepos.

It's about halfway from Quepos to their airport. Busses cheap and often--15 mins? Cab $2-3 but negotiate it. You'll need to go into quepos to catch another bus to Manuel Antonio beach or Nat'l Park. Every 15 mins daytime, cheap, maybe 20 minute ride, $5-7 cab ride.

Stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting Manuel Antonio park area.
Wanted to visit the national park as felt it was a 'must do' thing in CR- how wrong! Saw much more wildlife in other park areas, even other accomodations and on other hikes! Drove to the park for it's 7am opening, was greeted by coconut sellers telling us to park by their stalls as the park itself isnt well signposted in Manual Antonio village itself, for a small fee of course- which wasnt the issue, more the issue was we felt uncomfortable & misled by being told there wasnt a carpark for the actual park- which of course there was.
Paid 20 dollars each to enter & another 20 dollars each I think for a guide- which was a total waste of money- there were about 15 of us at 7am with this 1 guide who stopped & pointed out a few spiders, 1 or 2 monkeys & sloths & that was about it....other people also joined in who hadnt paid their 20 dollars to look through his telescope too!! All a bit of a joke- recommend spending money on a guide in other smaller parks/ecological centres.
Hotel itself actually looks closed from the road, but is OK- clean & basic and manged to negiotiate a discount off the original price- breakfast wasnt up to much from memory.
On a positive note about the area we did a vanilla farm trip which was great- extremely informative & different- although expensive at 40 dollars per person.

We were staying at Layla 2 nights while visiting Quepos area. The hotel was ok but nothing more. Completly deserted when we were there, there are better places for the price in the area. The breakfast offer was very poor.
