“Great day of horseback riding”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

These folks sure give you a great time on these horses. If you have not ridden a horse before, not to worry, these guys will steer you right. The guide was very friendly and spoke great English. You start off with a typical Costa Rican breakfast - yum! We did the full tour which included a stop at a mountain spring fed watering hole (and nearby waterfall). There is a changing room at this site, so wear long pants for the ride and bring a backpack with your bathing suit and towel for the swim. And bring a camera -- plenty of awesome photo ops!

“Lovely horses”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

My daughter and I rode with Brisas del Nara on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. It was about a 30 min drive from the MA hotels along a progressively bumpy and small road to get to the ranch. Once there we were served Costa Rican breakfast and good coffee. The horses were quiet and well behaved but not the mindless follower-type horses you sometimes get on a tourist trail ride. Our guide was very friendly and kind to the horses, as were the other staff at the ranch. Saddles were comfortable (as saddles go). The Costa Rican saddle is a bit smaller and more comfortable than a typical Western saddle, I think. The ride was about 2h. We just got into a forest reserve (which I wished I could see more of), then it was time to head back to see the waterfall (which was absolutely beautiful). Although they do advertise change facilities for the swim, they are back at the ranch, so you need to ride out with your swimsuit under your jeans and bring a big towel or sarong to change under or else ride back in a wet swimsuit. I didn't bring a swimsuit and wished I had. Definitely swim the waterfall if you get the chance.

“A favorite of our Costa Rica trip”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

The tour started with them picking us up in a tour van from our villa in Quepos. There was an english speaking guide that rode along and pointed out points of interest and wildlife. They were happy to stop so we could get some good pictures. When we arrived at the ranch we were greeted by the family, and served a great costa rican breakfast. They were very accomodating to our three young grandchildren. We took the half day tour, which was perfect for the kids. We stopped to swim in the river, and our guide and the ranchers grandson swam with us and played with the kids. Our guide told us a lot about the Costa Rican culture, and was very friendly. When we returned to the ranch we were served a delicous lunch of fish, rice, potatoes, and vegetables. The guide sat with us during lunch, and by the time we left he felt like one of the family. I was actually a little sad to say good bye to everyone there.

“Great first horse experience”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

We did the half day tour. Our 1 and 4 year olds rode with us, our 8year old rode a small horse. the horses were well trained and well cared for. the kids were required to wear helmets. Our guide was excellent and took us n an alternate route than normal so that we would have a safe spot to swim since our kids are so little. He was very personable and even played with the kids. the meals were great! The whole family was very welcoming. I thought it was a bit pricey.

“Nice experience. Tough for your rear.”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

Unfortunately we went during low rain season, so the waterfall was just a trickle, yet we were able to swim in the little waterfall pool. The tour lasted about 2 hours both ways, horses bit slow, but that could be not knowing how to ride a horse. Food was ok. People very friendly
