My sister and I recently stayed there for 3 nights (basically for 1 but we kept on extending our stay) and we couldn't be more satisfied. The host, Esteban, was great and welcomed us as if we were home. All his family was so kind to us and always helpful. There s no doubt this place is one of the best value for money alternative in the area and certainely one of the best place we've stayed in Costa Rica, clean and well organized. The hotel is located a bit far from the center but there are many cheap and convenient ways to get there (10 min walking distance, free shuttle from the hotel, taxi for 2$...) and at least the pace is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility, far from the crowd of Quepos.
I will definately recommend this place to my friends and we specially wanted to thank Esteban, his aunt Laurie, all the rest of their family and Yada the great maid for contributing to this great stay onthe pacific coast !
And BIG UP to Jerry, the iguana that lives around the pool ;)

Don't pay any attention to the very few people who poorly reviewed Villa Jaquelina, because our stay was perfect, especially for the price. We definitely got one of the budget rooms, but the accommodation was immaculate and quaint. The maid was amazing! She has an interesting back story, is a hard worker, and even folded my clothing while we were out!

We had a shared bathroom with our particular room but nonetheless it was very clean and had hot water.

The walk to town isn't bad at all! There is much more shadier parts of quepos if any at all really.

The staff was very nice, they are a family so there is definitely a close knit family vibe. In fact some of them were from the same city as us in the USA! This means they can speak Spanish as there second language so plus for people who don't know much Spanish at all.

There is a good amount of amenities. Fridge with cold water, beer, and coconuts. You can arrange to have breakfast in the morning which changes each day and is cooked by the maid previously stated, very good.

The view is beautiful from all levels; I really liked the layout of the whole place, felt unique and definitely not boring.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff but all in all a wonderful A+ place. Would highly recommend and thanks estabon and the crew!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Villas Jacquelina for three nights recently and absolutely loved it. The rooms were clean, the rates were good and the staff fosters a community atmosphere that's fun and welcoming.
Basically, it's everything a hostel should be.
It's about a five minute walk into town-- not bad at all. Breakfasts were delicious. The pool is nice for relaxing and the balconies were a great place to hang out, read, meet people and look out over the tropical landscape.

Room Tip: We paid extra for the private double that was "superior" and it was worth it.

This was the best hostel my husband stayed in on our 3 week trip to Costa Rica. I could've easily stayed here for weeks or even months, this place is perfect.
We really liked the location, the walk to Quepos is safe and pleasant. At night we sometimes took a taxi back to the hostel for only 1000 colones (£1).
The rooms have comfy beds and are great value, impeccably clean and large. The breakfast for 6 USD is delicious! We also really enjoyed the yoga class on the roof, the teacher, Elle, was fantastic. I also have to mention that there is some fitness equipment on the roof, including free weights and even a TRX! I'm a personal trainer so I was happy!!
The common areas are lovely with lots of sofas/hammocks and there is an honor system for drinks.
Staff werd super friendly and I think that's why this place has such a tranquil and happy vibe.
Oh, and guests are welcomed with a fresh coconut on arrival! Can it get any better?!

Great staff, great environment, and an overall amazing place to stay!! Everyone there is extremely helpful and genuinely cares about making sure you are completely happy during your time there. Yara, the housekeeper, takes great pride in making sure the entire place is spotless and clean every day, along with cooking some amazing communal breakfasts! We loved the early morning yoga on the roof as well- what a great way to start your morning!! The pool, another great amentity, is consistently clean, the showers are always hot, and the fact that they offer bikes to rent to get to town makes this place truly outstanding. We were treated like family the entire time, and I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone travelling and looking for a great, friendly place to stay in Quepos/Manuel Antonio!!

Would I stay here again? Yes. Absolutely. The staff is ridiculously helpful and nice to the point I kept expecting them to hand me literature about joining their cult. That was a joke.

The location has advantages and disadvantages. Yes it is on the north side of town and away from everything, but it is quiet and only a ten minute walk into town. There isn't much around the property for now which is nice because you have a wonderful view of the nearby villas and mountains in the distance.

It is a very laid back atmosphere and while impromptu get-togethers can break out on the balcony in the evening, everyone is very respectful about noise. While there isn't AC in the rooms, they all have large ceiling fans and our room (Room #4) had a private bathroom so we had a window on either side of our room which allowed for great air circulation. Even though it was really hot and humid during the day we slept comfortably at night. They have the most comfortable mattresses we've slept on in any of the hostels we've stayed at in Costa Rica to this point.

The kitchen is well equipped for cooking your own meals which we did a lot. The have a well stocked snack and beverage area with very reasonable prices. The maid was spot on and kept the place very clean and tidied our room every day. Having the pool was great because it was easy to take a quick dip and cool off. For access to the Manuel Antonio beaches you can walk to the central bus station and for 300 Colones (60 US cents) you can hop one of the many buses out to the beaches. We never felt unsafe walking through Quepos. You are more likely to encounter a dog, chicken or cow than anything else.

If you are on a budget and are content cooking for yourself you could easily have a great time in Quepos for under $70 US a day for a couple.

If you are young or young at heart and are looking for a relaxed atmosphere in which to hang out I would highly recommend Villas Jaquelina.

Room Tip: The rooms with shared bathrooms seemed to only have one window. If you can afford the upgrade to a r...

When my friend and I arrived at the Villas Jacquelina, we were greeted with smiles and fresh coconut juice--which were delicious. Not only that, the staff actually cracked the coconuts for us to eat the meat (yummy)!

The atmosphere there was very welcoming--everything was clean and we had everything we needed. I mainly cared about the wifi and the clean living quarter and they did delivered.

Steve, the owner, was the most amiable person ever! He helped us plan our adventures around the area and offered to show us around town.

If I ever go back to Manuel Antonio, I would definitely stop by Villas Jacquelina. Thank you Steve and your staff for an awesome experience!
