I've been touring Costa Rica for almost 3 months and this was definitely the highlight! Our tour guide, Miguel, is an excellent instructor and made very sure that we were comfortable with the Segway before we left the marina. We took the 3 hour tour which included Cocal Island, a short ride away on a ferry. It is a fishermen's island where they live and raise their families. Miguel knew everyone there and there were lots of greetings and high fives from the beautiful children who were just getting out of school. The ride along the beach was spectacular with the blue water and surfer friendly waves. Miquel was the perfect guide, always watching out for our safety and entertaining us with his wonderful sense of humor. I would encourage everyone to do this tour!

This trip was the best adventure of the year for me!
First Miguel, our tour guide, skillfully taught us how to safely maneuver and enjoy the Segway. It is an art! Then he took us to some amazing and beautiful places. First stop: Nahomi Park, an incredibly beautiful cul de sac on the ocean. I loved watching the mist from the crashing waves pour out of the cave in the huge rock. Next we road along the streets of Quepos for a bit before boarding the water taxi that ferried us to Cocal, a rustic fisherman’s village. It is like stepping back in time 50 years. Unpaved roads, no cars, outdoor wells. Miguel introduced us to some delightful families and children in their uniforms –just getting out of school. After riding for quite a while, we stopped at a rustic house near a banana field, where Miguel prepared a feast of tropical fruits for us. Then it was on to the beautiful unspoiled beach for a magnificent ride along the shoreline. Miguel is an excellent photographer and took many pictures for us. I would recommend Segway Tours of Quepos to everyone!!! Not only was the trip fantastic, Miguel came to our rescue in the marina parking lot when we were going to leave and our rental car would not start. He stayed with us, made arrangements with the car rental company to send another car, and called a taxi for us to get back to our hotel.
10 STARS for Miguel and Segway Tours of Quepos!!!

This tour was, by far, my favorite activity we did in Manuel Antonio. We were lucky to have a very small group (my friend and I, plus a local woman), so we essentially got a private tour of "the other side of Quepos." Our tour guide, Luis, was phenomenal! He was incredibly thorough and patient with us while teaching us the ins and outs of Segway use, and is extremely knowledgeable. We went through town, on a ferry, to Cocal island, and through the fisherman's village. Then we rode up and down the beach, enjoying the gorgeous views and crashing waves. We took a small break at the river, while Luis told us about his experience swimming in the river. Then Luis took us to a local man's home, where he opened coconuts for us to drink and set out a beautiful array of fresh fruit for us to snack on, after which we headed back to the marina.

All in all, this tour was an amazing experience, and I would definitely do it again. It was totally worth the price, and I wish we had sprung for the Deep Island Tour, just because I wasn't ready for the tour to end after 3 hours.

Thanks to Luis for giving us the experience of a lifetime! See ya next time! :)

This was one of the best activities we did while visiting Manuel Antonio this past week. Our guides name was Miguel and he did an amazing job. He was very diligent in the training and focused on our safety. The tour started in town, then we took a boat and ended on a small island nearby. The tour included beautiful beach views as well as a look into everyday life of the Costa Ricans. My favorite part was stopping at a locals small house where Miguel cut up fresh fruit for us to eat. There were also many children running up to us to say hi, they were super adorable and full of happiness. It was nice to see the locals in their everyday life. We would definitely recommend this tour- request Miguel if possible- he is engaging, funny, knowledgable, and has a very "zen" and happy personality! Pura Vida!

Our guide made all the difference. He was intelligent, funny, patient and focused. 4 of us took off on our Segway machines after being instructed on how to use them. Miguel took us over to an island next to Quepos where we rode down the beach and out into the interior of the island. I felt like we were seeing authentic Costa Rica, the beauty, the poverty, the friendly children and the alternative life style....all was on display......The trip is not for everyone, some balance and a sense of adventure are required, but most people would surely find the experience authentic, interesting and well done. We had a blast zooming about and playing while we felt safe and confident that Miguel had it all under control.
