The only way Jeff and Carolyn could have been more helpful is if they'd followed us out of the store, carried our bags around Quepos, and served as our very own personal translators during our stay!

While we were at the store, we browsed the wide selection of books, magazines, postcards, and other items (check out locally-drawn comic strips by Luciano!). We made a few small purchases; though, even if we hadn't, I'm sure Jeff and Carolyn would have been just as helpful with grocery and restaurant suggestions. They even helped us book a catamaran tour, for which I still owe Jeff a Pilsen. Guess I'll have to make way back to Costa Rica soon...

We stumbled into the Book and CD Shop on one of our first days in Quepos. Not speaking a word of Spanish, we were warmly greated by Damian, who promptly directed us to a little book of Costa Rica translations that turned out to be one of the best purchases we made during our trip. We struck up a conversation with Jeff and Carolyn (owners) who gave us a significant amout of information to help us acclimate to the town. He also gave us the name of a very kind English-speaking taxi driver (Nicolas Lopez- taxi 390) whom we have called on frequently. Jeff, thank you for taking the time to help us feel welcome in your little town by the ocean.

Coming around the corner from the bus stop and noted the bookstore. I had been looking for a decent bookstore.

It is a mostly used bookstore with a decent selection of books in english. Checked out the selection on classics and it was adequate. Found what I was looking for.

The Tico dude working was very helpful with directions in the town.

I highly recommend this place to visit when passing through Quepos with time to burn waiting for your bus.

Stopped by Jaime Peligro Book Shop on accident because it was raining and we hadn't booked a hostel in Quepos yet. Owners were extremely nice and helpful - they called around to their favorite hostels in town and found us a great deal at Hotel Plinio's down the road (and also suggested Sabores for good, cheap food). We went back a few days later and they were able to recommend an emergency dentist in town, too. Also, we found several great novels on their shelves. Definitely check this place out
