Delightful, manicured natural setting at $400 per week (less for lengthier stays) for an 1100 sq. ft. two bdrm apt. with birds to wake you up and monkeys to bid you good night. Conversations with fellow guests around the pool who return to Manuel Antonio Estates for month-long stays every year were key to our enjoyment of this beautiful coast and quaint little town. These seasoned travelers know the area well and enlightened us on where to go in Quepos for the best of everything without spending an arm and a leg in the hotels and restaurants that crowd the route to the national park. You can have a great vacation in CR -- with privacy and security -- for less than you would imagine at what is rightfully called an "Estate";and, if you're like us, you'll leave with a Buddha smile.

My wife and I stayed in the apartments. Great value. The location is also great. On the edge of town but only 5-10 min walk into Quepos. 10 min walk to the grocery store, 3 min walk to a bus stop with buses going into the National Park. It was quiet and we could relax by the pool or read on the deck. Shay is very helpful booking excursions.

On the negative side, there are ants everywhere but I imagine it is tough to keep them under control. I did see a cockroach one morning. Kitchen is minimal with awkward sink and stove. Shower was ok. Wireless internet was off and on. I had a lot of problems just even downloading simple emails.

But, you can't beat $60 per night for a 2 bedroom apartment. We ate in a lot but there are plenty of restaurants in town.

This was our second trip to Quepos, Costa Rica; and specifically to Manuel Antonio Estates. We were there during the rainy season during this visit, but it was still such a wonderful place to be. We stayed in the Eco Condos and loved every minute of it. The pool was sparkling, and the resident iguanas, titi monkeys, and white faced monkeys just made it a pleasure to sit and take in the beauty of it all. If you are a bird watcher, there is no other place in the world like it. It's amazing, with bright, vibrant colors; and there are so many different species of wild life right on your front porch (and roof, and back door, EVERYWHERE!)

Manuel Antonio beach is just a quick bus ride up the hill, and it is so much fun to join the local people on their rides to and from work/play.

We rented a car and visited some nearby places during our five-week stay. We visited Jaco and Dominical. Both places are amazing as well. From our home-away-from-home in MAE, neither was a very long drive and the drive is worth it. I recommend exploring as much as you can in some sort of motor vehicle, and MAE is a very pleasant, comfortable, and convenient place to make your starting point.

The service at MAE is terrific. They help with any tours you might want to take, offer recommendations on places to eat, provide daily room cleaning services, and most of all friendly smiles.

Thank you for a terrific stay, MAE. We are looking forward to returning very soon.

My husband and me stayed at the Quetzal House with my 20 year old daughter and one of her roommate. We had a wonderful time and the house was very comfortable to stay in. The setting was incomparable to other places we have traveled to. We felt very safe in the secured community and everyone was very friendly.

I rented 2 houses for my group of 11. The views were amazing, the accommodations first class. Service was excellent as we left some housekeeping challenges every day ( a group of 11 guys) but the place looked great each day. great location, walked into Quepos every night. Lots to do. Everyone knows the houses so tour services were easy.

Our group of six friends stayed at the Manakin Villa at Manuel Antonio Estates, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone had their own room/bathroom, and the common areas were perfectly spacious and clean. Because the main house has just three bedroom upstairs (we had no couples, all friends in mid 30’s-early 40’s), we were given keys to the extra rooms in the adjoining “houses.” It added a nice touch providing ample room to spread out and not feel like we were stepping all over one another. This particular house had a spectacular view of the trees, the town and the beachfront all from the large balcony by the pool. And sure enough, a day in we were greeted by monkeys in the morning and again in the afternoon, not to mention our friendly lizard who took up residence in the driveway. Location-wise, it was perfect. While I had heard that it was better to stay closer to Manuel Antonio than Quepos (MA Estates is closer to Quepos), I think it really just depends on your preference. It was a very short cab ride to Manuel Antonio, and it’s easy to catch a bus, a cab or even ask the security guard to call you one. Although Manuel Antonio is cute and very appealing, frankly I liked being closer to Quepos. Once you walk down the hill, it's a short walk into town. Quepos just seemed a bit more authentic and less touristy.... the restaurants were fantastic, between the coffee and the fresh fish and the beef, I felt like there were not enough mealsl in the day! (thumbs up to Café Milagro, what a wonderful hidden gem!) Only one minor observation – we could not find a corkscrew in the kitchen! But one of the liquor store owners in town was kind enough to let us borrow (yes, borrow!) his for the night. Finally, having never been to Costa Rica before, making arrangements from the U.S. was quite easy thanks to Shay…she even hooked us up with a great white water rafting adventure that turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip for me. So many thanks to Richard, Shay and the local monkeys for an immensely enjoyable stay at Manakin House, in Manuel Antonio Estates!
