“Friendly Hostel, Good Price”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

The staff was friendly and very helpful in recommending and booking our excursions. They served a genuine Costa Rican breakfast of Gallo Pinto, fruit, coffee, toast, etc. for only $3. One of my favorite parts having people from so many countries staying at the same hostel--overheard a lot of German and French. You get to enjoy the city of Quepos, and a short, cheap bus ride away was Manuel Antonio.

When we weren't out snorkeling or hiking through Manuel Antonio, we kicked back and relaxed at the hostel by the swimming pool or TV room. Also had three dogs, which made the hostel really homey.

If I go back to Quepos/Manuel Antonio, I would definitely stay in Wide Mouth Frog again.

Room Tip: They have dorms, private rooms and private rooms with bathroom.

The hostel is really OK.. except that our room was HOT. Never slept this warm. There is a huge fan which doesn't seem to be helping much. The room was very small and window could not be opened.

The shared bathrooms are fine, although only cold water. The kitchen and free coffee are nice. The place is safe and probably a good deal compared to other hotels.

Great clean and friendly hostel.
The owner has obviously travelled and appreciates what a traveller wants in a hostel.
Stayed my first night at a nearby hotel getting a private room for less than a dorm bed here BUT the service was poor/unfriendly and the room wasnt great...moved here and it was the best decision i made..should have done it in the first place!

Room Tip: Just pick a bed

Wow, what a find. Don't listen to the yuppies on here complaining who were expecting a hotel and got a hostel. This place was great! We met great people every night, lounged in a beautiful pool area, partied at a local dance club and had a nice little meal at Soda Quepos just down the road.

Negatives: yes quepos is a little dirty but it is not unsafe, plenty of cops around the main areas.

Rooms: I loved the communal vibe and had a great time, but yes the dorms are a little crowded if you are not into that type of thing.

Overall: great stop for backpackers looking to meet cool people, hang out and take a day trip to the Mauel Antonio Park.

The place is pretty cool the room is a bit small and sometimes specially in the nights to sleep is kind of hot even there's a fan in the room. We paid for a private room with shared bathroom. The mattress is fine, the pool is good and clean and the place in general is quite nice. You could have a very nice time staying there. I fully recommend this place if you're not so picky.

As it is a hostel don't have high expectations:
rooms are a little small they were clean
beds are ok
WiFi works well in the common area
staff is friendly but always seems in hurry
you can park the car in front of the hostel where the staff is watching the entry of the hostel so
i must say you feel safe inside at night, Quepos seems pretty unsafe at night, you can see some drug addicts preparing there dose with a spoon a lighter and a seringe in the streets, when you walk around past 10 pm you can find some weirdos looking at you and following you.
