What a lovely place! I highly recommend it to those in search of a quiet, surrounded by nature place. Good Value as well.

There is only one issue; be aware that the owner, Kristina, does comes and goes inside the apartments without any previous consent. She came inside the apartment twice in two days without really asking first. By the time we noticed that she wanted to come in, she was already in the middle of the apartment.
The reason I gave it four dots is for the lack of politeness from the owner. Rather than that! A great place!
If you don't like dogs, there are at least three always with Kristina, so they go where she goes.

Room Tip: "Tell Kristina to make sure she asks, and gets an answer before coming inside the apartment&quo...

My boyfriend and I just returned from 8 days at Villa Kristina. It was our first time to Costa Rica. We were more than happy with our stay. The apartment we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We went during a rather rainy portion of the season so having a full apartment was great (we didn't want to kill each other once!)

Kristina went above and beyond to set up cabs and tours for us (neither of us speak much Spanish so she was able to negotiate lower prices on tours, etc which was nice!) She also dried our laundry for us and made the bed/gave us fresh towels every day.

I'd suggest speaking with her and letting her know when you're going to arrive. We were "taken" our first day there as the cab driver totally overcharged us. Being unfamiliar with the trip, we didn't realize it until we mentioned it to Kristina. She said that she'd be more than happy to arrange a ride from town to the Villa. She also very nicely asked her helper to take us to the beach at Playa La Macha. It was a bit of a trek but totally worth it.

Two small notes: a) the villa is a secluded. We LOVED this, however, it did mean that coming back at night meant we needed to take a cab as the walk is a bit dark. This doesn't cost more than $3-5 USD per trip, so it wasn't a problem for us - just a heads-up to be ready for it. (also, we loved that it was secluded - it felt much more comfortable anyway, so it's totally not a negative!).

b) the shower does not get very warm. Again, this is NOT a negative (it's kind of nice to have a cooler shower when it's hot out!) but just something to note.

All in all, we highly highly recommend staying at Villa Kristina. It's well worth the money and you'll truly enjoy your entire experience. We're planning on returning to Villa Kristina with a group for the other, larger apartment. Thanks for a great stay!

Our apartment was just beautiful and the location is great. Geckos on the ceiling of the porch. There was a crab to great us on the patio when we arrived. Kids were upstairs, we were downstairs. Full kitchen was very convenient - wish we would have stayed more than two days. Kristina was awesome and very helpful. Our car was broken into in Quepos and our camera (the most painful thing) and other goodies were stolen including maps and copies of CCards etc. This was the ONE time in CR when we left a bag visible in the car!!! We got back late and Kristina let us use her computer and Skype to contact CC companies. Thank You!

LesterRam has written a very good review - he sums Villa Kristina up well.
Villa Kristina has a wonderful location. Manuel Antonio is getting a bit too many hotels, but you’d never know it once you turn off to Villa Kristina. Below and on either side is forest, with a distant view of the sea. She has a steep garden and when her garden stops, the forest begins. There are only a couple of houses beyond her and then the road peters out, to it’s very quiet. The wildlife like this and we had great views form our balcony of capuchin and squirrel monkeys. The highlight was the three toed sloth who was in a tree in the garden.
You can’t walk to the sea very easily but it’s only 10 minutes by car to the beach at Manuel Antonio or Quepos in the other direction.

The kitchen is well equipped and there’s a washing machine.Kristina was incredibly helpful and put herself out for us which we appreciated. There's a good supermarket in Quepos - the Pali.

Room Tip: The top appartment has the best views.

The bar was set exceptionally high in our first week in Costa Rica. Nestled in the rain-forested hills between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, yet off the fairly busy main Road, Kristina has somehow managed to create a piece of tropical paradise in her comfortable, well-appointed relaxed apartments. One can truly feel a distinct sense of remote safety yet exceptional immersion in nature. By day 2 or 3 we were so used to Mr Sloth, Howler Monkey cries, and the friendly faces of their Capuchin and Squirrel relations, we that we had truly found the best kept secret of Costa Rica's hidden Pacific. I haven't even mentioned the birds or iguanas or the magnificent sunsets!
We spent a week here - a car isn't necessary if you don't mind a 10 minute walk to the main road. Buses are frequent, clean, reliable and inexpensive ($240 Colones = US$0.50) and you're only 15mins away from the varied, spectacular beaches of Manuel Antonio and its famous National Park. For the same fare you could get the bus down into Quepos (3 minutes) instead of the 20 minute downhill walk.
Kristina's website is a very honest and realistic reflection of what one can expect - however, it does not prepare you for the glorious sounds that surround you. Even the rain falling on the forest canopy was something of a tropical ' white noise' to savour.
The adventurous trek down to the secluded Playa La Macha is well worth braving the jungle path - a definite sense of "off the beaten track" was felt - the reward - being on a somewhat unexplored beach all on our own for a few hours before the tide came in.
Kristina herself was a fantastic host, full of tips and advice, and remarkable in many ways for her independence in running her apartments so well. We have never seen a pool so clean in all our travels - the ambient lighting added a very tasteful touch to an already very beautiful place. Daily cleaning of the apartment was an unexpected surprise. Even more of a surprise was finding our washing tumble dried and neatly folded after a day out - Kristina just did so many little extra bits to make our stay seem too short. It was so sad to leave. We sincerely hope to return again.
Quepos felt somewhat more Costa Rican than Manuel Antonio with a decent selection of restaurants and shops. Some excellent yet inventive Sushi should be sampled at ‘Tropical Sushi.’ The recommended ‘Cafe Bohemia’ was closed on the day we tried. Good coffee from ‘Cafe Milagro’ was better than that from the supermarket.
Kristina’s apartments are well equipped to enable comfortable self catering – ‘Pali’ is best for stocking up on supplies in addition to the fruit and vegetable market on the Quepos sea front on Friday evenings and Saturday. There is also the chance to buy fresh fish at the market in the bus station. Taxis from the town to Kristina’s are an inexpensive and easy option.
We moved on to Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula on the next part of our trip and arranged a convenient transfer with Montezuma Expeditions who picked us up directly at Kristina’s. This took about 6 hours. It is worth noting that high speed boat transfer can be made from Quepos to Montezuma (2 hours) but we only found this out later. Nevertheless, the service from Montezuma Expeditions was highly professional and punctual – we even stopped to see crocodiles along the way.
Villa Kristina Apartments would most certainly be on our list when we return to Costa Rica - totally welcoming with immersion into nature and enhanced by delicate touches of hospitable luxury – 100% recommended!

Room Tip: Top apartment best for a group of 4 - 6. The middle apartment was perfect for two people but would b...

My husband and I have just returned from staying at Villa Kristina. We had an amazing time. The views are outstanding. The grounds are beautiful. The flora and the fauna were remarkable. The groups of monkeys that feed outside the patios will make you laugh. Kristina is a very gracious host. She makes you feel truly at home. She went out of her way to help us book some tours. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had. We hope to return soon.

These condos/apartments are amazing! The view is overlooking the ocean and it's like you're in your own private treehouse. We stayed in the top/highest apartment which was two stories. It had a full living room, full kitchen & a bedroom on the second floor. There were two balconies with hammocks. We rented a car so we had no troubles getting there. If you don't have a car, there's an inexpensive local bus service that brings you from the main town center to the cross street you need to walk on to get there. Villa Kristina is a five minute walk from the bus stop and it's totally safe. The bus ride is no longer than 10 minutes. It's in an area where expats live. A very nice and quiet area. It's really secluded also. It's owned by a lovely woman that lives there with her dogs. She offered us breakfast which was great! She has a subscription to satellite TV. They were building a nice pool when we were there. There's even a private beach that is so nice to go to! For the price, it's worth it. I'd go back.
