Our original hotel in Puerto Jimenez, was not good, so we walked over to check Cabinas Jimenez out. And stayed 3 nights there.

They take credit cards which saved us as the only bank in town would not accept our ATM cards. Few places in this price range do.

The property is clean and equipped with A/C and hot water showers. The beds have lovely carved wood headboards, and the walls had murals on them. Best of all it has a lovely garden, where you can hang out overlooking the sea. Some scarlet macaws were in the neighbors tree as I lazed in a hammock. We chose the smallest room, which was adequate, the larger rooms looked much nicer, but then cost more.
Breakfast is not included, but the larger rooms have coffee makers, and there is a great bakery nearby. Many day trips from PJ start early, so you'd miss breakfast anyway.

The owners were friendly and helpful, including helping us find a cheap flight back to San Jose on their computer. They had a superb folder in room with great info about the town, and gave us good restaurant recommendations.

They will store luggage if you are heading to Corcovado.

I´ve stayed at this hotel twice, once in Room 2 (in October 2008) and once in Room 9 (in December 2008).

Room 2 has two single beds, and a double, and Room 9 has a one single bed and a double. Both rooms have fans and great full length mirrors on the backs of the doors, as well as large mirrors in the bathroom. Room 2 has a walk out onto a private deck with a hammock and a sitting area, and Room 9 has a shared balcony with hammocks as well as a large sitting area with furniture just outside.

This hotel has a ton of charm, everything has been carefully selected to give a beautiful image to the person staying there. The rooms and bathrooms are decorated with bright colored painted murals and the linens are bright colored as well (blue and red) and in very good shape. Both rooms had TVs, though I didn´t use them either time.

The check in process was easy, all of the people that work at Cabinas Jimenez are more than willing to do everything they can to make sure your stay is comfortable.

There is WIFI internet access in the lobby area near reception and there are beautiful views out into the bay from many of the public sitting areas and some of the private balconies as well. I was very impressed and this will not be the last time I stay at Cabinas Jimenez.

We stayed here one night (to save money) after staying two nights at a lodge nearby. We were greeted by Capt. Chris who got us settled in. The room was nice and clean. I especially liked the way the bathroom was painted with fish murals on the walls. Cute. We couldn't get the hot water to work in the shower, though. Frankly, we didn't have hot shower water at either place on the Osa for the 3 nights, but it wasn't really a big deal. The motel's view is lovely while still being within walking distance to everything in town. The location couldn't be more convenient. We ate at Carolina's...good food and prices. We loved the Osa, and hope to go back again soon. It is truly a breathtaking place and the drive was, at times, breathtaking, too! We hired a guide to take us to Matapalo--what an experience! Absolutely gorgeous scenery, plenty of macaws and monkeys, and the beach--beautiful! Unfortunately, we weren't able to stay long as it began to rain, and we knew those streams would rise--what an adventure getting back! We wanted to really do the animal sanctuary, but it was just too pricey since we were the only ones going. Maybe next time. The Osa was definitely the highlight of our two-week trip and we will definitely go back--and stay for a time at Cabinas Jimenez.

we turned up in the dark in august, after driving down from arenal, and the guys were amazing ( thanks chris). he found us two rooms and sorted us with a restaurant nearby.

the next day we headed off to corcovado , and they let us leave our bags in their lock up while we were away for five days. They also advised on the drive and crossing the rivers.

The place was really nice, clean and well organised, so we would recommend it as a great stopover for anyone who wants value and a friendly envoironment in pj.

The location of the Cabinas Jimenez was perfect- a block to town- and the view is phenomenal! All the rooms are spotless, air-conditioned, and charming. The host, John, goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The rooms overlook the water (gulfo dulce) where all the fishing boats are anchored. We were told there's a 10 foot tide so the water varies from high tide at the seawall to low tide leaving the boats on dry sand! Also, when we made our reservation we left it to John and Chris to plan all our activities. They did a great job, setting us up with fishing guides (one day for sailfish, one for roosterfish), a nature guide to Matapolo and the waterfalls (by the name of Josh) who we highly recommend. We saw 4 different species of monkeys, maccaws, dolphins, and an animal preserve (on Chris's boat). Then back at the Cabanas had happy hour under the tiki hut overlooking the water.
Incredible place & incredible hosts!

I have been traveling in Costa Rica for the past 20 years. The Osa Penensula is the most unspoiled place I have experienced. My stay at Cabinas Jimenez could not have been better, the staff was very helpful planning my daily tours and even gave advice for wonderful local resterants. I took a tour on their boat, it was a tour that took guests out on the Golfo Dulce to see dolphins and over to a wild life refuge. I have never seen so many dolphins in my life it was amazing. The wild life refuge was the highlight of all of my experiences over the past 20 years! As for the rooms at the hotel, I had a waterfront view, it was so beautiful to watch the tide, the boats, the birds and the local children enjoy the water. I would recommend this hotel for the value and the location. It was easy to walk anywhere I needed to go, clean and again THE VIEWS were breathtaking.

All in all this was a very pleasant midpriced hotel in PJ. It is a bit away from the (very small) "main drag", but very easily walkable for all but the very frail. We had two different rooms -- they are priced differently depending on whether you have a verandah and how private it is (all verandahs look onto the Golfo Dulce). Hammocks in the yard were a nice touch, but not very useful in the rainy season. A covered area was also nice, but the no-see-ums came out in the evening, so we retreated to the room, either with sea breezes thru the screen or A/C. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The owner and staff were very friendly and helped arrange some excursions, including one on the boat "La Sirena" on the Golfo Dulce (we didn't see any dolphins but so it goes). The place is well run, seems pleasantly laid back. They will store your bags for a few days if necessary.
