“Authentic Jungle Experience”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Bolita is located right in the middle of beautifully lush jungle bordering the Corcovado National Park.. I stayed in a tent but there are very nice beds available with mosquito nets and clean shower and toilet facilities. A communal kitchen is also available with gas stoves and drinkable tap water. I met a lot of really amazing people during my 2 week stay at Bolita and recommend it to anyone looking for a real jungle experience surrounded by beautiful wildlife a friendly communal vibe..

While this is my first hostel style trip, I would like to recommend Bolita as a wonderful place to stay. You will experience a vast array of flora and fauna using Bolita as a base. In fact, we saw quite a bit of wildlife without having to venture off of the premises. Costa Rica is a beautiful and lush green country, and our experience at Bolita heightened our enjoyment by connecting with nature and experiencing the Osa Peninsula. Waking up to vocal monkeys going about their daily morning routine was an exciting conversation to listen too, and the sunrise that could be watched right from our bed was magnificent. The facilities at Bolita had everything we could expect to prepare our meals, relax in hammocks, or read a book while enjoying our time away. The hostel is very well run, with the owners wanting to ensure that we did not have any concerns, and gave us great tips for our ventures. Thank you for your serene and awesome jungle getaway location!

OK, so, do not expect luxury when you go to Bolita, however, expect to be blown away by the raw beauty and the diversity of wildlife here. The people who run the place and the people who are attracted here are friendly, interesting and great to hang out with.

There is no drive way to get to Bolita, oh no, in fact it is a fairly arduous 30 minute hike. You will not regret it though. It is well worth it. From the cabin there is a view of the Gulfo Dulce and 14km of wonderful trails to explore. All kinds of flora and fauna there from mushrooms that glow in the dark to Scarlet Macaws to monkeys and frogs.

This isn't a destination for everyone, but those who do go will return. Bring an open mind, an open heart, some food and good walking shoes, and you will have a great time here whether it is a few days or a few weeks. A perfect destination for reconnecting with nature, appreciating basic living, and doing your own thing! Great!!
