The lodging is great, service, food and atmosphere was wonderful. Located right smack in the jungle it is a place for viewing birds, animals, reptiles and plant life. If you are wanting to see nature as it is, this is the spot, however if you just want to see lots of animals like you might in a zoo then don't bother. The snorkel trip to Osa Island is not anything to rave about, but the jungle stay was great.

Room Tip: They are all separate villas and they all were about the same, very good. No tip here.

i don't want to go over a lot of what the previous reviews have said but you have to stay at Casa Corcovado if you come to Costa Rica and the Osa Peninsula. It is simply a beautiful, secluded resort right in the thick of the raw jungle.

The staff, particularly the guides Cynthia, Johan and Marlon were exceptional - friendly, extremely knowledgable and passionate about their jobs.

The boat ride into the hotel was fun and the tours that come as part of the package were superb. We saw humpback whales, sea snakes, dolphins, white faced cappucins, howler monkeys, fer-de-lance snakes, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, agoutis and - best of all - a puma while we were here.

The food is great here and the drinks are very cheap compared to other hotels we stayed at while in Costa Rica.

Casa Corcovado is thoroughly recommended!

This is a most comfortable & eco-conscious lodge with extensive well-maintained grounds in the rainforest, the closest lodge to Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula. We were a group of friends, 4 couples, on a private nine-day tour by Southern Expeditions, based in Seattle. We spent 4 days here and it was a most memorable experience for all of us. There are no roads to this lodge. You fly in on a small plane from San Jose & land in Palmar Sur. There we were met by our guide for the next 4 days, Marlon. He was among the very best guides we have had on our extensive world travels! From the airpstrip we drove a short distance to the village of Sierpe to be met by a Casa Corcovado boat. Our light kits were put in waterproof bags & we all wore life jackets for the 2 hr boat trip to the lodge on this open boat with a shade-providing top. We were toured down the Rio Sierpe & through a most interesting large mangrove swamp...Caiman, Squirrel Monkeys, a Boa, lots of birds! Then we had a distance in the open Pacific with an exhilarating landing through the surf on the beach in front of the lodge. You have to get out of the boat into shallow water on landing (ankle-deep to above the knees, depending on the tides)...wear appropriate shoes. You can't yet see the lodge, are driven up a steep hill in a comfortable little wagon behind a tractor, to arrive soon at the beautifully-landscaped & extensive lodge grounds. We were brought to our cottages that each contained 2 Junior Suites. These were very spacious with a porch, sitting room and large bedroom per suite. Outside each was a hammock & a useful washing line with pins! The suites are beautifully appointed with all modern amenities & comforts. They are airy, especially with the many large & quiet ceiling fans. Even though it was very hot, the air movement let us sleep comfortably. The staff are professional, attentive & cheerful. There is a very nice pool and a smaller pool a little further away in a forest glade & lots of fluffy towels. The dining room is lovely with delicious meals served & very professional & friendly staff. Their Margarita Bar is special!! It is a gathering place each evening to watch the sunset over the sea. It only opens for about an hour every evening for the sunset & everyone wanders down there for that magic time. There is a little bar near the pool where cold drinks are available at any time. Morning bird walks on the grounds were super...many birds, coatis & even a Tapir one morning roaming about the forest edges. Scarlet Macaws & all kinds of Parrots are constantly calling & flying overhead. This hotel does everything it can to be environmentally conscious & explains this to us visitors. Each suite has a water cooler that has a special micro-filter. They even provide water bottles to refill for our hikes. It is a strenuous & grand hike into the park. Hiking sticks were a big help. We also spent a morning boating out to Cano Island to snorkle off-shore there. Bring appropriate footwear, sunscreen & bug repellant. Our guide was not only conversant with English, Spanish & Latin bird, wildlife & tree names, but also made great picnics...fresh fruits & salads that would be transported to wherever we were, by other lodge staff. They even sent a boat with our picnic fixings in coolers to the park's San Pedrillo station one day! It was a life-saver in the middle of a full day hiking! This is a great rainforest lodge, providing excellent service and very interesting activities, starting with the boat landing on their beach!!

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are very spacious, airy and private.

We had the most amazing stay at Casa Corcovado. After a short flight we were greeted by our guide, Marlon, at the airport. We took a short taxi drive to the "jumping-off" point along the river, where Marlon and our captain, Roberto, took us on a 2 hour boat ride, through the mangroves, out to the ocean and up along the coast to our destination on the western edga of the Osa Peninsula. We hopped off the boat (only getting a little wet) and were met by a tractor with a wagon to carry us and out luggage up to the main resort - we stopped half way up to enjoy a troup of spider monkeys playing in the trees! The lodge is an oasis in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful grounds, cooling swimming pools and a wonderful restaurant and cocktail barare nestled into the untamed jungle. We had the same guide for all our excursions, so he got to know us and truly catered our jungle exploration to our needs and desires.

This is the un-tamed jungle. No monkeys pestering the tourists for treats, yet there was amazing wildlife all around - we saw a Tapir munching mangoes, scarlett macaws, white-face monkeys, coati, agouti and spider monkeys - all within the grounds, and our jungle hikes revealed even more wonderful creatures and sites (very few mosquitoes too!)

If you like a little comfort to go with your adventures - this is the perfect place. We had a small villa. The only downside was that there is no air conditioning, so we relied on the fan above our bed to cool us at night. We slept well, and were only awakened by jungle critters.

Room Tip: Our Villa was Number 2. It was small, but very pretty, and we really enjoyed the private outdoor sh...

We started our amazing journey in Sierpe, where our guide, Cynthia welcomed us, along with our competent boat captain, Roberto. The trip down the river was informative, with stops along the way where Cynthia explained about the mangroves, etc. Our cabina was tucked away, and very private. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and especially listening to all of the jungle sounds upon waking up, and the rain at night was very relaxing. Sunset was great from the margarita bar, and all of the meals were outstanding. Tyson and Edward could not have been any more accommodating, serving us at the pool, etc. Because Cynthia was so special, we requested her again for our snorkeling trip, and saw beautiful, numerous species of fish, much more than we anticipated. Jacob took us on a morning jungle hike, where we saw beautiful macaws, a large variety of birds, turtle tracks, wild turkeys, coatumundis with babies, and a myriad of other jungle creatures. Jacob is an outstanding naturalist guide, and Cynthia is a "jewel" in the forest. Walking back to our cabina one night we also saw a tapir, enjoying the mangos which had fallen to the ground. We also counted around 20 spider monkeys near the pool area two consecutive afternoons and you never know when you will hear the howler monkeys or macaws overhead. If you love nature, birds, wildlife, and superior service, we highly recommend this little slice of heaven. We will return the first opportunity that we possibly can.

As some other reviewers have posted, this is not the place for you if you expect varied meal choices, television, and other amenities found in upscale hotels. If you enjoy wildlife and love a sense of adventure, you will hate to leave this place because it offers such a unique experience. I am so glad there were no modern electronic distractions. Our room was right in the jungle itself. All day and all night there were exotic animal sounds. The howler monkeys are the loudest (only around dawn and dusk) , but the frogs and birds are busy vocalizing too. The shower opened to the outside, and there was a tiled lounge and an additional shower out there. We needed to have laundry done and it was done for us very promptly. The waitstaff is gracious. The handsome young manager (he said he has not been there for even a year) was a real charmer! I saw him deal with a guest who was making some quite unreasonable requests with tact and concern. It was like the Costa Rican version of “the customer is always right”. I was told that May is not the peak tourist season there, but that worked out very well for us as the weather was quite nice most of the time and the rain and occasional thunderstorms at night are part of being in a jungle. It will be hard to leave this place without a huge appreciation for nature and memories for a lifetime.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep in the jungle, ask for 7 or 1! But all the other guests were happy with the wi...

Unless one has a private plane, the journey to this lodge is memorable - about an hour down the river and then 45 mins along the coast. Lots of opportunities for wild-life spotting on the way. One lands on a tiny beach and a small tractor and trailer hauls people and baggage up to the lodge. One is not sure what to expect but on arrival it is luxurious with sumptous private cabins dotted around and a central dining hall and bar. A separate cocktail pavilion gives wonderful views of spectacular sunsets. We met an elderly American couple (80yrs +) who were back for their third visit. I think that says it all !

Room Tip: Not too far from dining room.
