I just got back from Terri and Katia's place - "The lookout inn" - and it was wonderful.
This place is so beautiful, unbelievable view of the ocean and incredible animals together with kind and generous hospitality and delicious delicious food, what else can you ask for? Oh, and everything is super super clean.
So, if you are thinking about doing to Costa Rica, don't think twice and go to Corcovado. And if you are going to Corcovado, I recommend on staying there for at least 4 days-week. In any case- for how long you choose to stay - the Lookout Inn is the place to stay. By the way, the owners helped me organize hiking and other activities and transportation in the area, so no need to worry about it from advance.
Enjoy :)

My wife and I just returned from a week at the Lookout and loved it. If you like adventure, nature, wilderness, warm weather-water and beaches this is the best. The Inn takes care of you like you are famliy which is what you are when you are there. The food is great which considering it serves your three meals a day is amazing. Fresh and wonderful we never even thought of going out to eat. Around every turn, down each road and path, everywhere is magnificant exotic wildlife and nature to make everyone feel like a child again. This is perhaps the sweetest spot we have seen in our many exotic vacations.

I have been fortunate enough to travel to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica for 7 years! The Lookout Inn has become a home away from home! Fabulous wildlife viewing, the beautiful Ocean view with sunrises and sunsets, fresh fruit, fresh fish, beach walks, comfortable hammocks and the pool add up to ONE big RELAXING trip! Your hardest decision becomes whether to swim in the Ocean, read by the pool , walk on the beach, kayak on the Lagoon or sitting on the one of the awesome decks watching Macaws fly by! This year returning to the Lookout was even MORE special as several return visitor (now friends) were there! For a TRUE wildlife get-away with fabulous extra's, check out visiting the Lookout Inn!

Room Tip: There are several choices of rooms from Tiki huts, Hotel-style rooms to open air cabina's so mak...

Hello Pam. All is great here at Lookout Inn. It was about 90F yesterday and thank God for the cool Pacific Ocean breezes and ice cold drinks. Yes, it is a hard decision picking what to enjoy first at Lookout...and the Scarlet Macaws are always flying around - hard to miss them! Most people have a hard time fitting in all the activities like exploring Corcovado National Park, horseback riding on the beach, hiking to the waterfalls, or gold mining at Park gold miners camp. Now that you are home in Montana, probably deep in snow (and no hammocks), I hope you don't freeze! We enjoyed having you and hope to see you next year. say hi to hubby all all of your 6-7 weener dog//puppys -- and your 3 llamas byeeeeeeeee

Just finished my 7th stay at Lookout Inn and it just keeps getting better. Each year I feel like I'm going to see friends. The owners and staff at Lookout Inn make you feel like one of the family and not just a guest. Great food, comfortable accomodations and a view of the setting sun to die for are just a few of the reasons Lookout Inn is high on my list of destinations on the Osa. And did I mention Scarlet Macaws?

Pura Vida and see you next year!

I'm a little hesitant about mentioning this place because I've seen what has happened to some of my other favorite spots in CR...but here goes.

Our favourite place to stay anywhere we've ever been, bar none. From the coolest "in the jungle" wide-open accomodations to the wonderful setting, to the awesome staff and great food, from Katyas warm personality to Terrys sarcasm, monkeys to macaws, this place is pure comfort in a wild setting. It had been close to a decade since our last visit, but we felt like we'd never left. Beautiful desolate beaches, great hiking, colourful birds, big trees, strange reptiles, weird bugs, great beer & rum, Erbe! Don't ever fix those roads! Can't wait to go back. Accidently left our passports there and had to return for one night to retrieve them (I think Terry did it on purpose to make us return ; ) but gave us the room for half price. You leave there feeling like friends with everyone you met. A very personal experience. Please, don't go, I want it all to myself!

Spent the first week of February 2013 at the Lookout Inn and loved it. The staff was friendly, the accommodations were clean. The food was "home cooked" and tasty. Nice tours of the lagoon, waterfalls and Rio Oro.

Being situated so close to the beach, the sound of the surf tends to keep you awake at night. Add the sounds of a billion Cycada's buzzing away in the jungle to the surf and you will definitely need earplugs to sleep. Lots of wildlife to see. The Corcovado National park is about a one hour hike from the Inn. We decided not to visit the park since we could already see most of the wildlife around the Inn.

Be prepared for the heat and humidity. 92 F and 80-90% humidity in February. It was wonderful! Great deserted beach that stretched for miles.

Take flashlites and extra batteries with you. The Inn is on solar power and gets dark around 6PM. Adds to the charm of the Inn. Felt very safe.

Terry (the Inn owner) arranged for a taxi to drive us from Puerto Jimenez to the Inn, and the same on our return home. The driver was friendly and could speak some english. Since it was the dry season there were no major rivers or streams to have been concerned about travelling across. Still it did require a 4 X 4 truck to trave the roads and rivers. If you are going to drive the roads yourself make sure you rent a decent sized 4 X 4, not a Jimmy style . I can imajine that during the rainy season crossing some of the rivers would be a different matter. Educate yourself on the seasons and that should dictate when to go.

All-in-all, we would go back to the Lookout Inn.

...is what we call the fabulous folks who own and operate the inn and also the very interesting guests who make it down to Carate. Terry and Katya make sure you have a stimulating, relaxing, information-filled very fun time. Katya will take you on a marvelous, calm kayak ride across a stunning lagoon early in the a.m. where she will point out wildlife your eyes would miss. And, if you want a mani/pedi, Katya is a skilled beautician. Massage? Julie is hands on! If you hear, "Danta on the beach" or "Monkeys on the Deck", you can be sure Terry has spotted one of the endangered tapirs who visit or the cabo blanco monkeys scampering around. His knowledge of species and the area is astounding. More scarlet macaws than anywhere, and in Jan., we even saw the red eyed tree frog! Trip of a Lifetime:::Don't Miss It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
