The hike to Corcovado was memorable, beautiful and long. I should have done more homework before going as I wanted to see the primary forest and spent much time walking through secondary forest with scattered banana trees in understory. The coast is gorgeous, we saw amazing wildlife and interesting plants, and look forward to returning with a different approach next time.

Remote and wonderful! Our guide Gustovo loves nature, its his passion and it shows. We took a boat into the park and had several trails we ventured along. The first few trails were often not far from the beach and we popped out to the sand several times. That made it specially interesting. The closer the coast the more active the monkeys. Most wild life was at a distance but the topography was amazing. We hiked along the river and even took the boat inland as far up the river as high tide would allow. There is a wonderful waterfall and a place to swim just downstream. I guess the tip is don't swim in pools with sun overhead, the crocs seem to prefer those spots. Also when the guide suggest wear the rubber boots its a good idea. I am a sandals only guy but the mud would have been a bummer.

The range and intensity of flora and fauna on the Sirena Trail in Corcovado is amazing. There is a beach landing after a boat ride in the Pacific from your hotel. The trail is easily negotiated (mostly), but is fairly demanding due to the length, heat, and humidity. It is longer than the San Pedrillo Trail, but the extra effort is well worth it. There is a welcome rest stop at the ranger station. Of course, a knowledgeable, patient, congenial guide is the key. Ours, Javier, was arranged by our wonderful hotel, the Drake Bay Wilderness Resort, and could not have been better.

We stayed at a nearby lodge and hiked into Corcovado with our guide. Saw many monkeys, birds, crabs, and so much flora, it's difficult to describe. No bugs to speak of either, and although it was the "Green Season," we didn't get rained on. I'll definitely make this trip again!

Lots of wildlife and nature, but a very far walk to the gate of the park. There was a full diversity of wildlife.
