Everything about Finca Exotica was splendid. How could you not be mesmerized by the macaws flying and squawking overheead, the xotic plants and animals, the soothing sound of ocean waves and rhythmic evening cidada "song"? But the very best part is the genuine, open-armed treatment by the staff here. They are all such gems and I'm so honored to have gotten to meet and know them. I'll be back!

Room tip: The tiki tent cabins are austere- zippered tents with a bed inside. The bathrooms are well way from the tents.

Gorgeous grounds, sea view from our cabin, outdoor cold water showers. The kind staff works hard to provide comfort and good meals in this remote location. We enjoyed the trip to Corcovado and especially the early morning lagoon kayaking. Monkeys and tropical birds right on the property which extends into a reserve. Just magical. It's a long bumpy drive from the airstrip at Puerto Jimenez, but if you're up for the adventure, can be fun. Ask about the shortcut over the hill that can shave off half the time. But hey, you're in Costa Rica, so what's the rush?

Room tip: The Rancho cabin was superb and worth the splurge.

Great food and wonderful location and friendly helpful knowledgeable staff. Lots of fun and exciting things to do such as hiking and bird watching and kayaking. Common areas were lovely and enjoyed the yoga

Room tip: Great vib. I was sort of slurpy with no fans but got used to it and we loved our cabin

We had the bamboo cabin which was nice accomodation but be aware there are no fans in these open air cabins and often can get hot and muggy at mid day and night at this latitude. Outdoor showers are cold water only but refreshing. No plug-ins in cabins (this is a true ecolodge!). Great food and service. Patrick and Jose and company were great hosts. Make sure and take the short hike to Sunset Point on the property for expansive views of Corcavado coast. We will be back some day.......

Positives: Very close to the national park, the cabins were nice and the other guests were wonderful. Jose leads a wonderful yoga class and I got an excellent massage. We liked the communal eating.
Negatives: Communication wasn't great as we were trying to confirm booking, there was no orientation and no communication about the $900 for 3 people hiking and overnight stay in the national park. It turns out that the ocean access has a serious rip tide which we were not made aware. One of our party literally had to be rescued by another guest. The staff showed no concern and did not even check on her to make sure that she was all right, or to see if she needed anything. A person there, who claimed he was part employee, part volunteer and part guest, did nothing. It was confusing as to what is role was. The tiki tents are not glamping...they are a tent on a platform tucked into the jungle with no airflow. This is not glamping. Even the cabins, which were nice, did not have a fan. All in all the negatives so outweighed the positives that we forfeited both our Osa National Park trip, which is why we went, losing our $900, and the last three nights that we had paid for. We did not know, based on the lack of service, if we would safe having this company, and the company they contracted with, guide us into the park. This place has great potential but needs a lot of work...most of which, would not cost money but would be taken care of with better customer service.

Room tip: Tiki tents are camping not glamping.

Hello Patricia, thank you for your comment which will help us to improve our ecolodge and the service.
I want to take a minute to give you a proper and more detail answer:
*We are already taking care and will set up a sign in the beach this same week, in this way, we will make sure that guests (even if we advice about currents) will have another way to remember.
The unspoiled beach is claimed for all our guest as one of the best atractions here, and we always ask to be careful and check the water before swiming, we really sorry that your dear friend had that experience, ocean and nature can be umpredictable here and any part in the word, but nobody blame us for that before.
*About our tents and cabins,I just double check and every cabin description mentioned about no fans, also have videos and pictures that show every accommodation. In our website under the section "Is finca exotica for you" you will find all that info (no fans, no hot water, etc) In that same page we recommend tents for adventure people under 50 years, even when some people above that age had enjoyed the stay before.
*I took time and read the 24 emails conversation you had with our staff and they mentioned and sent you links of cabins, etc. That means: when you decied to book you had information enough to actually know that we do not offer fans, etc
*In the communications about the tour you mentioned and booked with Osa Experience they give you the total amount to be paid, terms and conditions before you decided to book. I believe that you deiced to cancel the night before the trip, and as far as I understand the guide (that was already paid) came and was here available for you to spend the day and hike with even even if was not inside the park (because that was your decision).

Please do not missunderstand, we really want to say thank you for your comments, we want to learn from this experience in order to improve the experience for next guests. We are glad to know that after your visit you found another place more aligned with your needs, expectations and your home comforts, those ones that our off the grid experience dont pretend to offer.

If there is anything you are unclear about, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via email.

Kind Regards
