“Visiting OSM”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

My husband and I just got back from a relaxing, fun trip to OMV. We wanted to experience living at Osa Mountain Village first hand. It was a very good experience. Everyone at the village made us feel at home. Our accommodations were nice and the tours we choose were very informative and relaxing. We enjoyed the butterfly gardens, bird watching with Carlo's and the mangrove tour with Ivan an Jesus'. Also loved touring the property to see the sustainable farm/gardens. It is truly and amazing community taking care of itself. We were invited to a wonderful local's party at their community center where there is authentic tico style bar with pool table, ping pong and organized fun.

Friends of mine own a house in the village and have been telling me for quite some time to come and visit and see the beauty of the rainforest. I was hesitant at first, until a friend went there and described the beauty and fun he had while visiting. After some planning, myself and two friends decided to visit and rent one of the villa's for ourselves. Everything was very modern, clean and well kept in the community including the resturant and bar and everyone made us feel welcome. We did alot of site seeing and activities for the 8 days we were there, a couple days were spent right there hiking to the water falls, zip linning in the canopy, touring the many gardens and of course, more hiking in the beautiful rainforest. I strongly suggest anyone who loves the tropics and the beauty it beholds, you must visit OSA Mountain Village.
The only negative thing we endured is the drive to and from the village, you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and the road can get quite rough at times, but they are making improvements on it so hopefuly by my next visit it will be a bit smoother.

Room Tip: Didn't see the fitness center or room service?

We spent 6 nights at Osa Mountain Village with our children and grandchildren. Three generations of family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We felt very safe. We participated in a wide range of activities including the waterfall hike, snorkeling, fishing, and zip lining. Many of our afternoons ended by the pool. Duane was extremely helpful with arrangements for the whole 6 days. We would recommend Osa Mountain as a wonderful adventure for the entire family.

This was an organized, well run, and safe zip line experience. The zip lines were great fun, but not quite as thrilling as I hoped. About half the staff was super friendly and encouraging, but a few of them were surly and clearly annoyed with the tourists. Having said that, they were ALL very safe and knew what they were doing.

My boyfriend and I stayed at OSA Mountain Village for 3 nights (1 in the jungle and 2 in a villa) and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Honestly, our friends who live in Uvita had suggested it, but we really didn’t know what to expect. It was more of a community than a “resort”. Everyone treated us like family right from the beginning and we felt safe and welcomed. Our concierge, Duane Overturf, was very helpful and accommodating to the many changes we made to our reservation. We took advantage of several tours that they can book for you, including the canopy tour, Mangrove tour and a guided hike into the jungle to spend the night. There is so much to do on your own as well, with the VERY cool butterfly garden being within walking distance and lots of jungle hiking to waterfalls, etc. We had been dropped off by our friend and we didn’t have a car, so once we were on the mountain, we didn’t leave until our shuttle (which happened to be Duane himself (a super treat we didn’t expect) took us to Quepos to catch a flight back to San Jose. One thing to note, the accommodations are nicely appointed with anything you need to cook, etc, but there is no store (yet) on the mountain. So if you don’t have a car or don’t want to make the drive down the mountain, come with some snacks or drinks to keep in your villa between meals. Speaking of meals, we got on the meal plan, because we didn’t have transportation to drive off the mountain. They serve 3 meals a day which were always super fresh and delicious. Dinner is family style where guests and residents can join and you are right at home. If we go back to Costa Rica, we plan on exploring other areas of the country, but will probably book a couple of nights back at OSA Mountain as well, to spend time with the good friends we felt like we made while there.

My husband and I visited Osa to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were interested in the resort due to their sustainability practices and the wildlife. We rented a car in San Jose and had no problem with the drive. The drive along the coast was beautiful!

Our one bedroom villa was awesome. All the amenities of home plus an amazing view! During our stay my husband went zip lining and on the tarzan swing. We spent a lot of time walking, hiking, and checking out the wildlife. My husband being interested in sustainability spent some time with the residents about food production. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It is evident that the residents of Osa are passionate about the community they are creating.

I highly recommend a stay at Osa Mountain Village!
